Some did that during both of his championship years and are questioning his coaching ability now.

Can’t help that Saban has a freaking office at the stadium. Huge mistake to let that ego office happen.

One thing to take over for an old legend, it’s another to office beside him and listen to him get paid to comment on your performance.

You posted a Pat Forde quote and now are deflecting. I doubt this thread is going how you envisioned it going.

"My high school coach was Gary Barnett who took Northwestern to the Rose Bowl and Colorado to the Fiesta Bowl years later. We were extremely well coached in high school. That's why we won games. We were better coached than everybody else. He left to start his college career before my senior year. New coach comes in that was a very accomplished coach. He knew what he was doing. We kind of bought in and started off well. Won our first two games and we're ranked second in the state. And then we started losing and it just fell apart. "I'm not sure about his playcalling" and "Why are we doing that in practice". We thought we were bought in but when adversity came we weren't bought in. New guy replacing a legend and I get the feeling this might be the same thing. "DeBoer is good, but why are we doing it this way. We never did it that way. Nick would never let us do that." I just wonder if there is a splinter there between people meaning to do their best, but it's just not happening."

This kind of makes sense to me. DeBoer is obviously a great coach, but you lose to Vandy or struggle and it's gonna be natural for guys like a Malachi Moore and others who played for Saban for several years to question things he's doing differently.

Bama 100% is dealing with this. Its gonna get worse before it gets better...if you are a betting man Mizzou money line is not a terrible bet

Yes, In his first year Kirby lost to Vandy, Ole Miss, Tenn, UF, and Georgia Tech.

But, He was a hardass replacing a softer players coach.

Kinda the opposite with DeBoer.

Not true! DeBoer never coached in the SEC.

I don't envision threads going anywhere. What are you talking about?

Is that how you think when you post?

I think he is struggling to realize that in the SEC you have to be able to prepare the team and your staff for every single Saturday. The other conferences have about 2 tough games all year on their schedule and they can beat most teams by just having more talent.

It’s just different here. Saban worked around the clock 7 days a week.

It might be a combination of multiple things here. He’s stuck with Saban’s recruiting class and what he inherited and what Portaled out. From a talent perspective that’s great. He has to get his system in place and the players to respect him, these are Saban’s recruits, that might take time. I agree they may not be bought in. Team leadership needs to start holding other players accountable.

I also agree the staff thought they were ready for the SEC and FAFO at Vandy. A lot of first year coaches in the SEC have to learn hard lessons. I think DeBoer is a good coach. I don’t think he has the style of offense or the QB he would want to run it in place right now. I would expect to see a lot of improvement from Bama next year. There are multiple games left this year, I wouldn’t be shocked to see them win out on talent and rallying around the script A due to a sense of responsibility, but that will have to come from the team, not the coach.

This whole thing probably frustrates Saban (and I am a big Saban fan).

Saban preached and taught “The Process”…and, if he were successful, then The Process should work in his absence.

It isn’t.

Questioning things is natural. Throwing a tantrum on the field as a veteran leader is not.

This isn’t that complicated.

Bama has a flawed team with Milroe at qb. Even with Saban, and the same schemes, they have a loss this year.

Throw in all new coaches and they have 2. There’s too much kvetching.

You do realize that he was in a dogfight for a lot of his games in the Pac-12, right? He was lucky he didn’t go 0-2 against Arizona State.

Teams rarely make it out of any conference unscathed.

Judge his coaching abilities after year 3, not year one.

Um focus on the coaching styles. One coached football rigidly, with fire and brimstone. The other, is more of a player's coach...thus the contrast..between Richt & Kirby
