the SEC could easily rotate the final week between us, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri as we rotate on and off each other's schedules.
I think the league wants to leave open the possibility of OU playing OSU and Missouri playing KU the final weekend, if a deal could be worked out to do so.

Yeah but that's kind of the history/tradition of the final week and across all conferences at that.

except for the 4 teams I mentioned.
in the last 35 years, all 4 teams have changed their final week opponent multiple times.

LSU has played:
Tulane, Arkansas, A&M, and Oklahoma

Arkansas has played:
SMU, Rice, LSU, and Missouri

Missouri has played:
Kansas, A&M, and Arkansas

Oklahoma has played:
Nebraska, Okie State, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Baylor, TCU, and LSU

This...I don't know any LSU fans that circle that one on their calendar the way we do bama, florida and ole miss... I don't know why the conference has an obsession with pairing us

Would rather Texas, LSU, Ole Miss (or even aTm)

this is who the permanents should have been

Yes!!! Screw Tradition. Kentucky gets to face 2 teams they've played 50 times or less instead of the program they hate most in this world, and Tennessee gets to drop the tradition of playing a team they've played 108 times to one they've played exactly half that many times.

If you could just change LSU's to Missouri, South Carolina and Texas. That way they can play 3 teams they've played less than 45 times COMBINED. Because tradition means nothing...right?

Who would LSU and Arkansas end their season with under your selections?

Texas would have A&M, OU/Mizzou/Egg Bowl, and Florida plays Fl. State

We got our 1st (UGA - 135 miles), 4th (UF - 310 miles), and 5th (KY - 340 miles) closest teams geographically.

Only Tennessee (215 miles) and Auburn (275 miles) would be closer at 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Florida is a big deal to us. I don’t care how bad they are it always is an achievement to me to beat them

replace those runts with Bama or auburn and we good

Funny how none of the teams that LSU wants are on here crying about it....it's all coming from one side.

So who are the runts exactly? You should thankful we're letting you tag along like Mizzou.

let me do some moving around and see if I can do better for Kentucky.

this was rather quickly thrown together trying to give each of the original 10 members at least 2 other original 10 members as permanents (ideally all 3 permanents would be original10 members)

That was my thought with Vanderbilt and Mizzou. Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Vanderbilt would be our three closest conference opponents.

Missouri being in is by far the most difficult to schedule around.
other than OU, there just is no history there with any other school in the conference.

Absolutely shocking Mizzou fans would beg for Vandy.

Vandy's become a mid tier program.

One elite... One mid... Guess who the cupcake is?

ok, here is a second attempt with a little more effort put out.

My Goals:
Original 10 members play Original 10 members for permanent opponents (sorry new guys, not sorry).

Tried to only include series with at least 75 games played (Florida vs. Mississippi State with 56 is the only failure on that part).

while this way gets us more "traditional" games, we lose a few of National Interest that even people outside the south enjoy
LSU/Florida
Florida/Tenn

I like it...

I blame Georgia Tech and Tulane for messing it up by leaving in '64 and '66.

Even after leaving in '64, Georgia Tech has played:
Georgia 113 times
Auburn 86 times (last played in '05)
Bama 52 times (last played in '84)

Tulane, leaving in '66, has played:
LSU 90 times (last played in '90)
Ole Miss 65 times (played on Saturday)
Miss St. 56 times (last played '07)
Vandy 48 times (last played '89)

Those games will still be in the rotation of the other 6 games being played on rotation.

Kind of cracks me up when LSU folks say they don't see A&M as rivals.

A&M is the fourth or fifth most important game for us. Most LSU fans didn’t care much about the game until the 2018 one.

OP didn't quite think this out before hitting the "Submit" button.

LSU can't close out the season with Florida, because the Gators end the year with Florida State.

Ole Miss closes out with Mississippi State.

Texas A&M closes with Texas.

It was either Arkansas or Oklahoma for LSU and LSU-Arkansas is a much more historical game, so Oklahoma gets stuck with Missouri to close it out......
