didn't tennessee's best player last year transfer to bama?

That's the first player (#10) in my reply, Henry To'oto'o.
IIRC he was UT's leading tackler last season and still transferred to Bama.

If you're a team that needs to get better in certain spots quickly, I'd be watching a lot of Sunbelt and MACtion games during the week, then go to those players and start trying to get them to transfer.

I want us to poach players from big time programs like LSU and USC and other schools going through a coaching change. Those are the players that will make a real impact

Well, compared to where they have been. I mean, with everybody they lost to the portal I expected about 2-3 wins and those to OCC teams that were expected.

Now we'll have to wait and see if they can build on it. but they did netter than I expected. Much better.

Don't fool yourself and sell them short.
They've got the makings of another powerhouse program in the SEC. A 100,000 seat stadium, huge fan base with only 1 real instate competitive rival, and a capacity to garner good financial support for an excellent coaching staff.
Most folks aren't old enough to remember that Tennessee was the 1st SEC team to actively recruit all over the country back in the 60s...and they were very successful.

That's correct. I remember Jack Reynalds back in the 60s was from Ohio I think. Also, they used to go out th the west coast and play USC and UCLA all the time, mainly for recruting purposes. Georgia used to play PAC 10 teams a lot, but always in Sanford Stadium only.

Harsin (Auburn) will be in the thick of the portal along with y'all just like they did last year.

Transfer portal and NIL will and probably already has killed college football. Just more for the haves and leftovers for the lesser haves and have nots.

This is where I don't agree - no one is transferring to UGA and Bama when you already have 5 stars waiting their turn to play. They are transferring to play not to sit on the bench.

Our starting corner is a transfer, former all Conference. We had an all American safety transfer as well, he got injured. We will hit the portal to fill holes..not for guys to sit. Last year those holes were in the secondary. Next year could be another spot

Why do people think Tennessee is on an upswing. They beat a crappy South Carolina team, one of the worst Missouri teams ever, and a slightly above average Kentucky team. Oh, and lost to the worst Florida team in a decade. Sure, they have a nice QB, but this team is far from back.

No one said they were back. Not they did take a half step forward. I thought they were a 3-4 win team. They did more than anything recent and did it with less

If you can get 4-5 transfers that were former starters, that's more impactful than 90 percent of any recruiting class that season.

UGA was able to get Gilbert, Tykee Smith, and Kendrick. If there were a greater need, they could of gotten a few more.

Georgia did get a couple of transfers! So did Alabama. So did Auburn and just about any top program got at least 1 good transfer.

1) We beat the living hell out of USCjr and Mizzou - scoring 28 points in the 1st quarter both times
2) UF was a different team in the beginning of the season - they hadn't thrown in the towel yet - ask Bama.. and I might add we were also a different team - if we have Hooker starting from day 1 we beat PITT and the UF game would have been more interesting.
3) UK on the road when they are having their "best season ever" is a good road win.
4) lastly - we weren't even supposed to get bowl eligible this year with how cornbread left the program. Going 7-5 with this thin of a roster is incredible. Wait until we field a full roster with depth.

Lol NIL rate? Mizzou is a joke. We hung 28 points on you in the first quarter. Your fan support is trash compared to Tennessee so don't bring up "NIL" to any program outside of Vandy. Idiot

Did Tennessee with Pruitt as the HC blowout Mizzou? Yes. Why? Mizzou didn't have many 4* and zero 5* players on the team and most were 3* and some 2* players on the team. Back in the Summer someone posted the total star ratings for all SEC teams. Mizzou was 13 out of 14 Vandy was least. That is how you can evaluate a team. Then how good is the HC coaching them up? That isn't likely to do well against teams with a much better star ratings. That is why I wasn't surprise to see Tennessee to beat Mizzou based on star ratings on your team and Mizzou team. Right now Mizzou is now turning the corner on recruiting all because of NIL! That is why Mizzou is doing much better in recruiting.
