I think they were #1 going into the Rose Bowl, but did beat the defending national champs in their home city by double digits after beating a top 5 michigan by 5 TDs.
Arkansas lost by double digits that season and finished 6th in the final AP poll behind Texas who beat them in the regular season.
Claim "Yankee" stuff all you want, but the pollsters had Texas ahead of Arky and they won the H2H
