Money certainly helps but I think it’s tougher to buy a championship in college than the pros. And it’s tough in the pros.

Common denominator for a ship is coaching, culture, talent. Bama had all 3, Georgia and Ohio St currently have all 3. Maybe a couple others do, too. A&M appears on the way if not quite there.

To the OP’s question my guess is there’s a little less crap to deal with at LSU. Not that their fans are any less passionate but LSU owns the state, LA produces the most NFL talent per capita. And the big donors just cant be as big a pain in the arse as they are at Texas.

This is the most clear sighted, objective, and reasonable answer to this kind of question I have ever heard from a Texas fan on a message board.

Would have been LSU prior to NIL. The one thing Texas has over LSU is $, so if you’re looking to buy a team, that’s probably the answer.

Depends on the AD, and the booster situation. Right now, probably Texas over Florida. LSU leadership is a mess

110% Lane should hold off for Texas next season. Playoff appearance this year and another run next year....and Texas will literally drag their balls across the hellscape known as Louisiana go come get Lane for $20mill/year.

I think Texas has too many cooks in the kitchen trying to make the meal. Look at the decision to start Archie versus Ewers this year. There is no way that team is as bad with Ewers. Donors have too much control at Texas.

LSU has had more recent success winning championships but look at where they are now and how they are treating their last coach.

FL had some success with Spurrier and with Meyer but they are going through coaches every three years.

I have no idea where I'd go.

Nebraska is in that list - so what? NIL has changed the game completely.

Go with the program that has the deepest NIL pool and understands the importance of the OLine these days.

They can’t help but trip over their dildos. I’d go LSU.

Doesn't matter. All three have the resources, facilities, and recruiting grounds to compete.

UF is my pick as well. Tremendous talent in that state and Gainesville is a place you can control the environment and that's key.

I disagree with you on the fishing thing though and if you have ever been to Venice, LA you will realize the folly of that statement. I actually learned about Venice doing a charter in Florida and the guide told me about how Venice is where all the guys in Florida go to fish. Then I went to Venice and learned why. You can do In Shore and catch giant Reds until you get bored. You can go offshore and have to turn back with the boat because you can't fit any more tuna in the cooler. That place is the shite if you really care about fishing (nothing else down there besides eat gumbo though so I'd rather visit). As for LSU they have their own levels of interference as has been obvious the last few weeks. A coach is going to get very little grace period because of the recent success of past coaches as well. You can definitely win there but it has unique challenges.

As for Texas you are missing the mark a bit though. They have serious money and if you don't have serious money you sure as hell aren't getting a voice at the table. Texas is also essentially the pro team of Austin and that's a different dynamic. LOTS of corporate sponsorships. If you aren't writing 7 figure checks you aren't getting anywhere near the decision makers. That's also the problem but not how most people think. When your players are driving lambos and they have so many distractions with so much money easily available it's really hard to build a championship winning culture. Mack Brown was able to do it for a while but he couldn't sustain it. To have a championship culture you need guys that are hungry and want to grind. It takes more than just buying talent, you can look at the 2022 A&M Recruiting class for a great example of that. Giving 18 year olds more money than they can spend and a sports car in a town like Austin where everyone wants to treat them like a celebrity and every girl wants to frick them is hard to get them focused to put in the work. Essentially the things that make going to Texas appealing to guys are the same things that make it hard to build a blue collar culture that you need to win championships with players that just want to eat, drink, and absorb football 24/7 and live in the gym or the film room.

The national champions of the NIL era are; Michigan, Ohio State, and Georgia.

They rank #1, 2, and 8th all time in wins.

I keep hearing all these new money pitches about NIL yet see no championships from it.

LSU > UF/Texas

There is a reason why Saban wasn’t interested in coaching at Texas in the past and even advised Sark not to take the job at Texas. Their BMDs are different animals to deal with.

Don't get me wrong...Venice is fantastic and I like the vibe....I am a fish camp type person LOL...but I have fished Florida extensively and have fished Louisiana including Venice and the inshore fishing in the panhandle and north Florida is comparable to the inshore fishing in Louisiana (and Georgia and South Carolina and North Carolina for that) and in most of the panhandle and north Florida the offshore fishing is better in Louisiana....but from about Cape Canaveral to Key West and back to Tampa the offhshore fishing in Florida is better by a bunch....in most of that area it is possible to catch sailfish on a jet ski a 1/4 mile off the hill and when you add in the tarpon, which are far more numerous, and the snook, which are almost infinitely more numerous, Louisiana aini't close. And when it comes to freshwater fishing NOTHING in the US beats Florida. Some of Canada can come close, with different species of course, but any fool can catch a stringer full of 5 pound LMs in most of Florida. There just isn't anyplace that is comparable.

Saban was absolutely interested in Texas and was nearly gone till Mack Brown proclaimed he wouldn't step down to see Saban come, so he stayed.
