re: If you are a coach and your only goal is a NC, do you choose LSU, UF, or Texas?

You choose whichever one where you believe you can keep the boosters the furthest away from all decision making.
It’s not Texas, so whichever of the other two has an easier path to your goal

Moving forward, NIL is the key to championships--Texas probably has more money to throw around than the other two.

Very even jobs. Great talent pools, big fanbases, big stadiums, all in recruiting hot spots, lots of nil money. A great coach can do very well at all 3 for sure.

It is insane how long it has been since Texas won a title with all the advantages they have.

But what does it matter if the money has strings attached to it that prevents you from a national championship?
The money guys choose the AD (CDC). They choose the coach (Sark). They choose when a coach is fired (Sark). They choose when an assistant is fired or a fundamental change in strategy (Sark losing play calling duties). They buy the QB they want and you must play him (Arch). They want access and special considerations. They spend top dollar on players and think they got the best ones because they paid the most, but it’s meaningless if those players aren’t willing to do the dirty work.
These problems have been repeated over and over by whorn. They’re the same problems that A&M has dealt with since forever.
It’s the key to why Mack Brown was successful. He could juggle it all and keep them happy enough and distant enough for a few years to win one championship. It’s absolutely the key to everything Elko is doing. The boosters were told to stay away. AD Trev Alberts in conjunction with board members who want to win are the guys that deal with them. They have little say so in NIL and staffing etc. Alberts is the only person Elko deals with. Elko is carefully vetting all players and excluding anyone just trying to collect a check (it’s why we let Jordan Carter go recently, he tipped his hand he was only in it for the money). A&M will be a juggernaut until the day the power hungry control freak boosters seize control of the board.

Seems FL would be the preference- enough resources to win it, without quite all the headaches and distractions that Austin and Baton Rouge bring.

Florida.
After watching LSUs antics with the Brian Kelly contract situation, I would not go to that school based on principle.
There’s talent all over Louisiana and there’s especially talent all over Florida.

UF over LSU by a miniscule margin for me. I would rather live in Gainesville than Baton Rouge because the fishing in Florida is far better than it is in Louisiana. From a football standpoint neither has an advantage. They both have heaps of NFL talent within a stone's throw of campus and both have won natty's with different coaches....LSU has a significant advantage on that front as 2 of the coaches who have won natty's at LSU are universally recognized as doofuses.....It would appear that the AD at Florida may also be a little better.
Texas ain't in the running. Texas has and will always have a donor interference issue. Most people are not aware of what a Texan with $3 in his pocket thinks of himself. EVERY Texan and Texas and probably ATM fan is as bad or worse than Yellow Man at Auburn....even if they can't go the price of a rent a win ticket they ALL think they are wealthy and wise. All programs have to deal with this because they do not function without well heeled fans but the demands a Texan with $3 in his pocket will insist is his right to make is far beyond what anyone else in the nation has to deal with....

Texas has deep pockets and top 5 recruiting classes every year since forever but non of that ever translates to anything. I think its their Country Club culture. Of those 3 give me Florida all day long.

In today's climate, i would chose Texas for the strongest recruiting base and seemingly unlimited resources.
Plus it's a much nicer and safer environment for my family at a high quality university.

In the last 40 years 5 teams have 3 or more championships. LSU and Florida are 2 of those 5 teams. Texas is not.
Florida had a 12 year run of 3 national titles in the past 3 decades.
LSU had a 16 year run of 3 national titles in the last 2 decades.
Texas has 1 national title in the last half century.
Texas is easily the last choice of the 3. For whatever reason they can’t win championships in the modern era. LSU is probably the first choice.

The answer is Texas. But it’s a much narrower margin than it was before NIL/Portal. If I was a coach and my goal was a clear path to a NC, I’d go coach at Notre Dame where I can avoid a bruising SEC schedule and a conference championship game, then waltz into the Playoff at 11-1.

LSU - Crazy HSFB talent, no in-state comp, cherry-picks some of the best TXHSFB talent, Natty pedigree, NFL warehouse
In the NIL Era, the recruiting battles for TXHSFB & FLHSFB talent will be SAVAGE. Advantage LSU

Imo,
The correct answer should be Texas,
But, I’d go with Florida.
