Probably because there was no agreed upon national championship in those days. That and the fact that motion picture film was in its infancy, photography was still not that widespread, and newspapers were reporting mostly on World War I. Radio also wasn't a thing at that time either.

I hate Bama and the year sucked but Saban had his team playing like it was any other and the rest of us didn't. That says more about how shitty our programs are vs theirs.

And if you are young enough, you might live to see LSU have another decent year, above 500, where you have a bowl game. Be happy. It could happen.
