Was it disappointing for Bama greatest team of all time to get dickslapped by Clemson for the National Championship?

Even IF Bama would have beaten LSU, Ohio State was still going to win the Championship. They are just heads and shoulders above everyone else this year.

2017:
9-4
3rd in SECw
#18 in final AP poll
#15 recruiting class

2018:
10-3
3rd in SECw
#6 in final AP poll
#5 recruiting class

2019 (current):
9-0
1st in SECw
#1 in AP poll
#2 recruiting class

2019 (projections):
12-2 (worst) / 14-0 (best)
SECw division title (worst) / SEC champs (best)
Top 6 AP finish (worst) / #1 national champs (best)
Top 5 recruiting class (worst) / #1 recruiting class (best)

Anyone who calls that a disappointing year 3 under Orgeron is losing sight of the larger goal: bringing LSU back to our 2003-2011 stature as a program.

They've beaten the following:

FAU
Cincinattie
Indiana
Miami-Ohio
Nebraska
MSU
Northwestern
Wisconsin
Maryland

They play Rutgers, PSU and Michigan to finish out. Hardly a murder's row.

Nah. Not making the playoffs for some reason would be a disappointment. At the very least, this year has proven that LSU is “back” at the elite level and our offense has finally changed. I think the whole fan base is backing this team and coach now. Coach O has done a great job.

Do you lick paint, or ride the short bus?

You should go and ensure your admin starts to schedule teams outside of the SEC that can increase your SOS.

LSU fans so far seem to be leaning “just glad to finally beat Bama”

And for every season for the past decade, the ability to beat Bama means you are capable of competing for a NC.

Don’t care, Bama’s Saturday was a disappointment.

That’s all that matters on Monday November 11th.

Not the question.

If LSU doesn’t win the national title or loses in the playoff, is this season deemed a success?

I’m truly curious to see how Tiger fans feel.

At a minimum I want to win the SEC title. Maybe I am old school since I am in my 50's but winning an SEC title is still and important Trophy to win and banner to hang in your stadium. Now in the playoffs, I would like to get in and lets see what happens. LSU at 13-0 with SEC title and gets beat in playoffs, well not disappointed in season, but playoff loss.

It would be a bittersweetly successful season. Obviously, the next goal is to win the SEC and then the natty. Coming up short would be disappointing, but not devastating. It would be like 2005 and 2006 again.

Unless we have a total breakdown and lose 2 of our last 3, it is already a success.

That being said, now that we are where we are, I would be disappointed if we don’t win a championship. My disappointment won’t mean the season was not a success.

If you look at the way we are recruiting and the staff we have assembled the future is bright. This isn't a once in a lifetime season. Clearly we will lose a lot at qb but I'm not sure any other position group is going to be worse next year. And several will be improved.

Here is my take. The game is in New Orleans, LSU will have a huge home field advantage against every team in New Orleans, save you all (Bama). Mobile, your 2nd most populous metro area is 2 hours from New Orleans. So in New Orleans, LSU is probably 55-60 crowd to 45-40 Bama. LSU vs. Ohio State in New Orleans, if that is what happens, will be more 75-25% LSU. So on that field, I think LSU can still win. If the game was in the Rose Bowl, or Glendale, maybe different story.

Not if they make the championship game. Establish its rightful spot as king of the SEC, win a semi-final game. I’d call it a successful season.

Nope. Beat Bama, win SEC, make playoffs. I’d never complain about that
