Being realistic, I don’t think LSU has enough defense this year to beat Ohio State in a playoff game. It is what it is

LSU vs. Ohio State in New Orleans, if that is what happens, will be more 75-25% LSU

So you think Ohio State would only fill 25% of the superdome? Or do you mean fans in NO in general?

If LSU doesn't win it all it would be disappointing but the season wouldn't be a disappointment. Would anyone expect the 180 change vs. last year?

There's still a lot of season left to play out. Their D could get better than it has been which has held up when it needed to the most. And if that happens and their offense continues to click, good luck for the teams in the playoff. Their offense, to my knowledge, hasn't stumbled yet. Burrow has like an 80% completion percentage. So there could be an off day with Burrow being off target or receivers dropping balls--seems unlikely but possible. Their offensive stumble to date would be what--lack of scoring vs. Auburn? Where they still racked up 500+ yards.

Been a helluva season and unless the wheels fall off, hard to say it's a disappointment.

Didn't have the defense to beat you for the '07 national title (played in January '08), either. How did that work out for you?

i assume you meant 2nd to 4th place, and not a 2-4 record like i originally read it

LSU was picked by almost all media outlets to finish 2nd

Nobody expected Ohio state to win that game

We were ranked like 11th the second to last week of the season.

The first big step was made. The second will be winning the Recruiting battle.
If we can do this, the championships will fall even if they do not this year.

No
The fact that LSU is back on equal footing with Bama is more important.
It means LSU can put themselves in position to compete for championships.
You still need a little luck along the way and avoid key injuries and have things fall your way to win a national title.
Now, LSU needs Tenn and other sec teams to step up their game to make it harder for Bama to steamroll through the conference like they've been doing the last decade and every year gets the SEC closer to getting Saban out of the conference for good.

Absolutely. LSU wants to be the Big Dog, they have to be held to that standard. Bama went to the finals last year and lost, and the Board Hyenas here were all over them.

Nothing less than the National Championship is going to cut it.Lose, and you're Ole Miss.

Absolutely not a disappointment. The offense has FINALLY caught up with the rest of the football world, and Coach O is recruiting extremely well. He also retained and hired excellent assistant coaches. The future is very bright for LSU football.

After beating Bama, is this true or false?

It would be a disappointment because it would only prove beating Alabama is no big deal anymore.

That's why you'll always suck. The goal must be to win it all, and accept nothing less.

This year, if Bama does not get a shot, will have been unacceptable.

That’s silly

Clemson and Ohio State are legitimately good teams along with LSU and losing to one of them does not break a season

If they win the SEC this season is a resounding success compared to where everyone thought they’d be at this point after, say, the Troy game two years ago

Honestly, Assy, I would be disappointed not winning it all, but to call the season a disappointment is just silly.

I understand your question, and therein lies the difference between Tiger Nation and gumps-

A natty can't fix a fan base that is broken af without it: No number of nattys will fill the hole in your fan base's soul. Ever.

Out of desperation, y'all even claim a half-dozen fake ones, and still...are...broken.

Ok. This Tiger fan feels that there is still much to play for. Beating Alabama is a HUGE goal for us and can easily be the cherry on top of the pie. BUT, LSU has higher goals than just beating Alabama. I think the first goal, as always, is The SEC Championship. I believe that the SEC Championship, combined with beating Alabama, will be an effective heal to any wounds caused by not winning the National Championship. BUT...the ultimate goal is still the NC.

I dont care. I want to see us play well, I would like a few fewer defensive breakdowns. We made Tua look like Ehlinger.

If we come up short but play lights out,I dont have a big worry. This LSU team has a few deficits, it is not a stacked team like 2011. But if we are good enough, I will take the championship, but I just dont expect it. Only beating Bama by 5 is a disappointment though, with as weak as Bama is this year
