That would be unfair forcing a team to play 3 big 6 annually.

Bama: Aub Vols Miss St
LSU: Rebs, A&M, UF

That isn't about being scared. It is about balance.

Bama will play UTk and AU. 2 of the Big 6.

A throw off isn't unexpected and State makes the most sense given proximity and games played.

It is an easier cry to appeal for a rival when the other team in the equation is likely getting Arky and Ole Miss. Should be fighting for a UF or Aggie pairing.

That said, I am rather agnostic. Just happy football is all the way back on Saturday

How many schools have 3 nickname games? I can only think of 2 for both Auburn and Alabama.

There's no historical significance tied to these games

Except that LSU is only topped by Tennessee and Miss St in number of games vs Bama. Similarly, Bama is third in frequency on LSU’s list too (among current SEC members).

Killing that game would literally be taking away one of the historical matchups in the conference (not just a recently great game).

This is just completely wrong.

Geez. This board . . .

It's not a rivalry game - been some good games but it's just not. Bama fans really care about Tennessee and Auburn because we see those fans every day. They just don't about LSU. Sorry to tell you guys. Bama's only rivalries are AU and TN. Period.

State and/or Vandy are the way to go.

Makes no sense whatsoever to play LSU each year.

This argument makes no sense. I don't care about Bama playing Auburn every season, but they obviously aren't going to boot that game for Bama-LSU.

This is my goal.

Only variable is Floridas side.

Guessing y’all would drop Tennessee?

From what I understand y’all see that as a “great game” but not a real rival correct?

UF-uga, lsu, USC?

Alright let’s drop the iron bowl then. Somebody needs to be a pissbaby about it.

Fair argument….but from LSU’s perspective, we may lose out on any permanent games against the Big 6…that would be a travesty.

I can’t imagine Arkansas, A&M, and Ole Miss every year….Ole Miss would be the only game to get excited about.

unless you live in Huntsville, no you don't see Tennessee fans every day, and I'd bet there as many LSU fans on the Alabama coast as there are Tennessee fans in the northern part of the state. Maybe 30 years ago you saw more, but not now.

Why is it that LSU ppl can't understand the long standing rivalry between Bama and TN ? They cry about it year after year. They just don't understand the rivalry and hatred that flows threw our veins for each other

Have you been only watching football since Saban showed up at Alabama?

Few outside of the SEC cared much before then
Ok, I'm just going to say this part out loud:

The Powers That Be, that are making decisions in college football, DON'T CARE about the time period before Saban showed up at Bama. They don't care that Bama plays Miss State every year for a century, and they're less than 100 miles apart. They don't care how many times Kentucky has played Vanderbilt, etc.
They aren't preserving the Iron Bowl for it's historical significance, they are doing it because it's a highly watched game. Same thing with Georgia-Florida, Auburn-Georgia, and so on.

LSU-Bama HAS been a big game for the past couple decades. When ABC/ESPN pays money for broadcast rights, that's one of the games they WANT. Big matchups, Heisman prospects, defending champs, potential playoff teams, and so on. Viewers in Big 10 country will watch LSU-Bama on Saturday night.

Now, I won't be surprised if it's dropped, because you have to balance everyone out. The SEC cares about everyone, even though the TV company doesn't.

Because they literally don't have a true rivalry game.

I think Tulane leaving the SEC in 1966 was the worst thing for LSU in this regard. Curious to know why that wasn't made a permanent OOC opponent like FSU for Florida, Tech for UGA, etc.

Help me out,
Bama doesn’t want to play lsu. They argue that LSU is not sorry enough or…Bama doesn’t want to play LSU. They argue that LSU is too sorry.

It's not important to me

AU was more heated in my day 1997 -2001

Will AU vs UF be a thing?
