re: If it's not Georgia or Texas as SEC champs, who do you think has the best shot?

It’s really hard to predict/project with so much roster churn in modern CFB
I could not agree more with this.
I do think if OU has a slightly above average offense they will be a handful.

I can't get my head around this new era of Bama football. Last year they look like they were going to suck, and then they made the championship game and the playoffs.
Their defense was good enough to save games for them last year in spite of no rushing attack on the offensive side.
Everyone's hyping their defense up this year, particularly secondary, and with this garbage schedule they face they should statistically be good in the regular season
Whether they're genuinely good defensively is up for debate, that defense got taken apart by the eventual national champs last year. I'm interested how Lane and CWJ do against them this season in BR, Wommack's defense tends to struggle against coaches who run that offense, examples being Malzahn Week 1 FSU and of course Indiana.
Wommack's 1-1 against Heupel who also runs that offense but last year's Tennessee team was probably overhyped going in and finished 8-5 ultimately, getting skulldrug by Diego and Co to cap the season at Neyland.
Also, their 2025 stats might be skewed some since they faced LSU and Auburn teams at the back end of the season who just fired their head coaches, not exactly playing fully stocked teams there. They also never faced Ole Miss, A&M, and Texas.

Alabama should at least make the game with their garbage schedule this season
This isnt really a thing, no matter how badly you want it to be.

Brandon Walker has them winning it all
Brandon Walker predicted LSU would win the SEC in 2025.
Prediction Details
Conference Champion: LSU Tigers (projected to finish 11–1 or 10–2, winning the SEC even with a projected early loss to Clemson).
CFP Seeding: Slotted as the No. 3 seed in his 2025 College Football Playoff bracket.
Individual Accolades: He also predicted LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier to win the Heisman Trophy.

Look at your schedule, your hardest games sans LSU are at home where you never lose
You couldn't have been gifted an easier (by SEC standards) schedule if you tried
Next to the fact that Tennessee just lost their top safety for the season

And most of LSU's toughest games are at home.

Oh cool, LSU plays @ Tennessee too.
To act as if there is some big difference between LSU's schedule and Bama's is retarded.

Oklahoma they went 10-2 last year against the hardest schedule without an offense most of the season
Everyone says because they did this time last year. Preseason SOS means absolutely nothing. End of year is different. Especially in the NIL era where half the top 10 teams wont even be ranked at the end of the year.
They finished with the 8th toughest SOS in the SEC. Mizzou, Michigan, Tenn, and LSU weren't nearly as good as people thought in the preseason. And LSU was throwing in the endzone and should have beaten them with a 3rd string QB

We open with our OOC opponent, y'all don't get FSU until Week 3
Also we play Auburn at JHS, y'all get them at BDS
And you avoid Ole Miss

aTm on paper. They’ve got talented depth and favorable schedule this season and that always helps. See Ole Miss 2025.

It seems gooner and aggy have both talked themselves into winning it all based on last years schedules being playoff friendly, but OU doesn't get that again this year, but it seems the SEC office has once again set up aggy for a playoff loss.
Most people don't know this but Reed spent the offseason with a pro QB coach. If he has improved his mechanics as much as they say, it will be interesting. However, you never know anything until live action. I'm still on 8-4 until Elko proves different
He definitely has all the pieces and his team has a blue collar mentality.

I know this isn't what you're looking for, but it will be Georgia or Texas winning the SEC this year. Yes, a few other SEC teams should be improved vs last season, but the dawgs and horns having been sitting still and getting worse.

They apparently don't teach reading or writing in Austin- either before or after whatever time is left over from the dildo-waving rallies.
