People don't actually have conversations with themselves. Except for that crazy Tennessee fan. He's a schizo. Sometimes people just get each other, ya know.

Yes.
He had future NFL starters on his teams and underperformed each season he was at Arkansas.

Yes, he had totally cratered by the time he left. He went 0fer his first year in the conference and was a fumble away from being 0fer his last year.

I wasn't aware of those revelations about excessive drinking and gambling. I assume he has stopped the bad habits. He has taken Ilinois from mediocrity to competitive in a fairly short time.

Yeah we should have won way more than we did in 14 and 15 especially. He had among the worst records in the country for losing games after going into the 4th quarter with a lead. Even lost to Alabama 14-13 due to a missed XP lol.

Now you have a guy whose health has improved in Fayetteville but he can't win shite.

Glad to hear you think so highly of the job Drink has done at Mizzou.
On the cusp of elite with 6 more wins than Bert over the last two seasons in a much tougher conference, with a Cotton Bowl win over Ohio State, and a far better career winning percentage (.667 to .610)

Bielema is not s good coach. Arkansas' problem was 100% Jeff Long.
...and Yurachek isn't any better.

Dude, he's 28-22, 18-18 at Illinois with much softer schedule than he had at Arkansas.
If anything, forcing Nutt out and firing Petrino were much bigger mistakes.

Bert completely stopped trying his last year at Arkansas. Recruiting went completely dry.
If you’re asking if Bert is a good enough to coach to have stayed at Arkansas, then yeah probably.
If you’re asking if the 2017 version of Bert deserved to be fired, it’s an easy yes

What do you not get about that he had a huge alcoholism problem here.

Ended up with a coach that lives at Oklawn. That Novell crap was just that. The order of the benevolent booger wanted Malzahn so bad they couldn't have someone better get hired. Then had no plan when Gus told them to kick rocks.

Did he though? Is one game worth the incompetence?

Yet he got Illinois to beat South Carolina in the bowl game. Plus Bill Belichick helped him out big time. That actually saved his coaching career.

P5 Teams that Bert beat in his time as head coach -
1) Ole Miss
2) MSU
3) LSU
4) Tennessee
5) Auburn
6) Missouri
7) Texas Tech
8) Kansas State
9) TCU
10) Texas

Sam had a better season in year 2 than Bert ever did. Even still, Sam will likely not be the coach next year.

Bert went downhill when Sam left for Georgia. He knew he was screwed, he took a group of olinemen to Sam’s house and begged him to stay.
Sam was his best recruiter and coach and he couldn’t overcome it.
I don’t dislike Bert but he did a piss poor job of taking care of his football business and spent too much time partying and eating. He couldn’t handle the freedom of not being under Barry Alvarez’s thumb.

Petrino? That to me is what led the Hogs to where they are today. I think no is the answer.

Petrino is back in the role he’s best at, we’re going to see how that theory works out.
He started excelling after his first year here so we’ll see if history repeats itself.

Petrino didn't hire John L. Smith, Bert and Chad Morris.
