Well OSU snuck in over a Penn St big10 champ last year.

Baring a blowout against Auburn, Bama is in if Wisky loses a game.

Bama history plays into it too. And it doesn't say anywhere that you have to win your conference. I could argue a 1 loss Bama is a better option over an unbeaten Wisconsin. Especially if LSU and MSU are ranked at the time and the Auburn loss is close.

The Auburn loss to LSU also plays in then in Bama's favor because they beat LSU.

Bama could lose the Iron Bowl and still make the playoffs

Sure but at a worthy team's expense. It could get very interesting.

Well, Auburn isn't getting in because of LSU so there's that. #Lolburn

Ohio State is going to back door their way into the playoff for the third time in four years.

What if Clemson and Miami play a thriller, Miami loses last second by a field goal or less. Then, maybe Miami and Clemson are in?

But Bama barely beat Moo State who got throttled by auburn and Georgia..... That would lead you to think if auburn beats Alabama then What do you do with Georgia? In that scenario where Georgia and auburn play for the SEC championship, only Georgia stands a legit chance of making the playoffs. If they still put Bama in, it is a sham playoff bid at best.

Yep, then Miami would have a claim similar to Bama's. I actually think Miami then gets picked over Bama because of the marketing opportunities.

Definitely possible.

At this point this is the seemingly most wide open race of the 4 years.

That won’t matter if, and I said IF, Auburn beats Alabama.

I would love a no SEC team playoff this year.

If, in the rematch, Auburn beats Georgia again, I suspect you will get your wish. The only hope for an SEC playoff spot would be a non-conference champion Alabama team at 11-1.

It matters from the perspective of 'who did Auburn lose to' and how Bama did against the common opposition. Not a huge factor but it will be one when they compare Bama to an unbeaten Wisconsin and a 1 loss Miami possibly.

Why wait?

I am actually hoping Michigan gets them.

Could you imagine the pandemonium on here if Georgia Tech upsets Georgia, Auburn beats Alabama, but Georgia upsets Auburn in the SECCG, and Alabama somehow gets selected to go the playoffs as a #4 seed.

Wouldn't happen probably, but a fun hypothetical nonetheless.

Yea - and so is Oklahoma if they lose their Big XII rematch title game. Nobody is a lock right now.

Oklahoma losing the rematch is fairly likely, IMO. Gary Paterson is one of the best coaches of this generation.

I could argue that a 2 loss conference winner that lost one of the two games OOC speaks to the quality of the conference which shouldn't then warrant 2 teams getting in. But then that Auburn loss was to Clemson.

i think a lot of that will be hammered out with Clemson/Miami. If Clemson beats Miami that makes our Clemson loss look that much better, if they lose to Miami then all bets are off. Wisconsin still has a lot of work to do before they are in too.

If all of the other things happen, SEC refs won't let the last one happen. There is one thing I know about the SEC........it wants it's money.

Lets just say that Bama lost to Auburn. Bama will fall no worse than 5 or 6. Winner of the SECCG between Auburn and UGA would get in. If the door is open for that final spot to be a non conference champion, then Bama will get in. With one loss, they will get the nod over a 2 loss conference champion similar to Ohio State last year.
