Directly from the mouth of a friend of mine who is a CDC data analyst 1 week ago, their biggest concern is the economic impact of the mass hysteria surrounding the virus.
Congrats, you're part of the problem Chicken Little.

I hope Bernie and his progressives can win so that I can buy cheaper weed legally.
I have to laugh at all the idiots posting here and competing hard to earn posthumous Darwin awards.

The price is higher now but I was buying ounces of mix-and-match strain eights from Good Chemistry in Aurora, CO for $90 pretax and $118 OTD.
Colorado is my vacation spot.

I think we’d have bigger problems than just college football if the virus got to that point.
Indeed. If it is that bad than things will have most definitely dropped in the toilet.
It has been just over a hundred years since the last super pandemic when the Spanish Flu killed some 30-40 million people world wide (about 1.5% of the world population). The mortality rate of that strain of the flu was estimated to be 2-3%. The mortality rate of the Coronavirus? 2.5%.
Thankfully our ability to control epidemics is vastly better then it was a hundred years ago.

The CDC missed the chance to stop a pandemic. We have a viral wildfire that's out of control. Hospitals can't even test for the virus.
Every other developed country has a competent healthcare system--they are testing by the thousands. We can barely test at all. Every other developed country has universal healthcare and paid sick leave. We have a large population of people who have no healthcare.
My over and under for US deaths is 1,000,000 people. Place your bets.

We won’t even be talking about this come June, as the summer months kill the spread of such viruses. By next season, we’ll probably have a vaccine. A lot of people will still get it, but the mortality rate will fall under 1% (almost entirely very young and very old) as we learn to minimize its severity and as it burns itself out some.

It won't be that high. The Spanish Flu killed about 500,000 in the United States and our health care systems is vastly better now than it was then.
All of that having been said if the death toll climbs into the tens of thousands the economic and political fallout will be a nightmare.

Just STFU.Do you even remember H1N1?BHO didn't even declare a
"national emergency" until after 1000 had already died LINKand 6 months into the pandemic. There were 60 million cases and over 12K dead
We declared an emergency within a month of the Coronavirus along with travel restrictions.
This will be a drop in the bucket compared to what happened back in 2009.

I will gladly take that bet.
this virus is bad for the elderly and the very young. For everyone else its sometimes only as bad as a cold.

I don’t care if College Football is never played again. I’ll take the 2019 season as the lasting memory.

Some people need to realize there is a lot of space between being completely flippant about it and believing this is the 4th seal of Revelation being opened. Someone can have a healthy concern and take mindful precautions without thinking it will be a world war z scenario.
Yes, I’m more likely to die from a vending machine tipping over onto me than covid, exactly like I’m statistically more likely to die from that than a terrorist attack or Mexican gang member, but that doesn’t mean I should invite dog eaters to cough in my mouth or MS-13 through our borders.
Even if the flu is more deadly and more contagious (doubtful), the flu is well understood. We have vaccines and even effective anti-virals you can take after the fact. Most of all, entire towns and cities don’t get sick with the flu all at the same time like batsoup-aids which would put a strain on any country’s healthcare system because it is impractical to have beds, staff, and supplies ready for a whole town.
I’m not panicking, and I haven’t stocked up on anything. But I am hoping for the best and would rather my parents, aunts, and uncles don’t die because of chinese incompetence and food standards.
