He did it the best way possible. Waited until after signing day to not rank your class, went back to his root and not to just the next up and coming job that came his way

It was how it went down. He went out of his way to announce he was staying on twitter. He also had a Cotton Bowl interview where he expressed how happy he was at Mizzou and working for Drink. Stated he wasn’t really interested in other jobs. I think many felt stabbed in the back. The conversation is slowly changing to the coaching search.

The guy took another job because he felt it was best for his family. Bump in salary, closer to family etc. Good for him.

Yes I would have liked if he stayed for continuity. He did a nice job with some very good talent. I’m cautiously optimistic that this could be a win win for both LSU and Mizzou.

Bingo - the guys last post was the sacred “I’m not f*%#ing leacing!” Gif and then literally leaves.

Additionally there’s already serious speculation that he has pre-recruited several of our players to jump with him in April.

Not hating. I get it why he left for LSU (proximity to family and lots of $$$). He left the defense in much better condition than he found it. Mizzou will be fine. Drinkwitz has made two great coordinator hires in a row. I'm confident that he will make another, especially after a great year like this and with the $950,000 that LSU is giving us.

Yeah that wasn’t wise on his part. Not a good look. But I get it, it’s business. See it everyday. Folks happy, all is good and then an unexpected opportunity arises. Someone’s word doesn’t mean what it used to.

None from me, he has to do what's best for him and his family. Besides it's not like he left for a job in Idaho he's going home to a great program.

3-5 fans on a message board doesn't equate to a fanbase.
Wish he had stayed. as long as he doesn't poach our players and takes at most 1 coach, that's fine.

And let's be honest, this season coupled with Drink's impressive recruiting and portal work, has for the first time since Pinkel given Mizzou fans the sense that it could be sustainable. It's nothing personal against Baker, it's just the last thing anyone wanted was a defection from the formula of what worked.

Who knows? Drink may find a DC better than Baker. He proved with his 2023 staff he's good at recruiting coaches too.

I think the majority of fans look at as part of the game. Happens to all teams. It’s always the few who make the most noise on here to make it seem like it’s the majority.

Baker may or may not be a great DC, but continuity is generally a good thing. With Baker the team probably has a chance to make the playoff next season. Without, who the hell knows? Mizzou's chances almost certainly went down. And it's not like Mizzou is a program where playoff contention is a regular thing. It may be 2033 before Mizzou has a 10+ win team again. So yeah, this just sucks.

Nail it! Only reason it took him so long to get the team to win 11 games was that he wasn't ready, and the lack of experience as a HC put him on hold until this past season.

I mean the situation changed once LSU fired their staff.

I would assume this was a situation like Denbrock with Notre Dame where it was one of the few jobs he would've left for.

Welcome to professional football Mizzou. shite happens. If your coaches are getting other offers you know you have arrived. We just lost Denbrock to ND. You move on and hire the next guy.

Definitely not a terminally online Mizzou fan, that's for sure. 14k posts? Yikes!

My wife says I'm a bad fan because I'm not really a "fanatic", I'm realistic. So maybe you're right.
