I'd be looking for my next coach as he's 63 and probably is capped out at about 5 more years.
he's a solid coach who'll win 9-10 games most years, but likely not anything better than that.

It would feel bad, man. I knew he was a faker before he ever coached his first game there. Cringe af.

That's great and all, the problem is you had the exact same record WITH all of those players. Hence, the Brian Kelly patented ceiling.
Did you not read about the defense? Yes, we had 3 DL go to the draft... we also didn't have a DL coach. Lost just before the season started to crazy 1 in a million health issue. And it turned out the rest of the staff couldn't pick up the slack, and by doing so they in turn neglected their own position groups (which still weren't as talented as you want yet). So we had an abysmal defense, and still went 9-3.
That's now addressed, we have new guys who seem to be putting in a good scheme, but need the talent (linebackers and secondary) to really make it great. The defensive line, expected to be the weakest link, has played well.
I'll say it again- I'm ok with where we're at. Kelly was not coming in to bump a good program up like Kirby did at UGA, despite what some unrealistic fans might think. He was brought in to rebuild the program from basically the ground up, so that it lasts. We don't need to have 1 great run and then be 6-6 again, we need to set the basement high, and build from there. That takes time.

I would not have been happy with BK as the A&M coach. He would not fit in with the alumni or the players. His personality and culture is not what A&M would be looking for.

Get out of here with this crap, we're busy tracking preseason baseball activities!

High floor, low ceiling coach. Would do well at a lot of programs.

I hate all the culture and fit talk. Coach O was pure LSU culture down to his core. The dude even went undefeated and won the national championship. He got fired because he didn't win enough.
Nick Saban was never a fit at LSU and there isn't a fan out there was wouldn't push over their grandmother to change history so he never goes to the NFL.
Brian Kelly isn't a fit for LSU but no one cares his first year when he beat Bama. We care now because he's proven he is what he always has been, a coach that had a great record because of an incredibly soft schedule. He goes .500 against ranked opponents at Notre Dame and dude is sitting at 11-1 or 10-2. He goes .500 against ranked opponents at LSU and he's 9-3 at best.

He grinds on males, fits A&M extremely well

I'd make it crystal clear that only women (real ones) are allowed to grind up on my junk or that of my future sons.
Beyond that I'd blame the AD for making a lazy hire. As in just a big enough name and just enough accomplishment to justify the choice, but not really a bold hire of a younger up and comer who wants to build a winning program and leave a legacy.

I wouldn't trade Elko for him.

I'm an LSU fan and I think I know how Alabama must have felt when Bill curry fielded teams and pissed off Scott Hunter saying they can't block and tackle.
It's smart to go back to Bear Bryant and his philosophy to never get beaten physically.

He got fired because he was hitting on everything that had a vagina and two tits. Didn't he even hit on the AD's wife? Who happened to be pregnant at the time?

False.
He got fired because he went .500 in back to back seasons.

I don't like Coach Kelly and his faaaamulllllleeee. But, I'd take him over the retard we are currently stuck with

If a fan is satisfied with winning 9-10 games per year and never winning a national title then he's a very solid hire. But he's not a NC type of coach. He reaches his ceiling relatively fast and doesn't go any higher. That's what LSU hired.

So I'd say Kelly was worth the price. We make a frick-ton more money than his salary costs, so it was worth the investment to not go 6-6, 7-5 a couple years along the way. 12-0, despite what people wanted, was never an option.

I wouldn't trade Pittman for him. He would suck in Fayetteville on and off the field.
