re: Appearances of your school in pop media

I was waiting for someone to mention The Program. I think many crowd shots are from UT's infamous '92 loss at Williams-Brice.

Bring back the BCS. I'd also be o.k. with the return of ties.
re: Who is your most competitive rival this century?

It hasn't been competitive, but sundry football coaching search committees have wailed on the Vols.

Kevin Butler and Fuad Reveiz were bad dudes. I think Fuad held the NFL consecutive FG streak for awhile.

Changing your fandom is odd, but selecting a team to pull for is no biggie. You don't need a connection.

Wilma Rudolph for Tennessee
Willie Gault should be mentioned for Georgia. He was a winter Olympian, and would have been a summer one were it not for the boycott. Plus he was very good at football.

The plateau is awesome. It has a ridiculous number of outdoor options, and is reasonably priced.

I think UF can put up 27. How the Vols score 17 is beyond me. Our OL is abysmal.

I'm a ticket holder and would be fine if it was. The pre-92 way was fine.
re: Better campus - Texas A&M or South Carolina?

As a Tennessee fan I'm staying far away from this discussion. Our new stuff is cleaner, but has even less character than our salute to bad 60's, 70's, and 80's architecture.
re: Tennessee +10 versus West Virginia

WVU will put up 30-35 if UT'S defense is marginally better. If the Vols can run they can probably put up 25 points.
Should the OL stink again we'll be destroyed. There's 8-win talent on the team, but who knows about the coaching?

Has Ole Miss had a decent defense since Joe Lee Dunn? I know they've had some players, but I don't recall a defense I thought of as nasty, much less a tradition of them.
re: Vol fans: has UT officially given up on Women's Basketball?
Posted by murfvol on 8/10/18 at 10:17 pm
Realistically not as many women as men care about competing athletically. It's not right or wrong, it just is.
That means the talent pool is super shallow. Get a few players and you do very well. Pair them with a good coach and you dominate.
UT isn't terrible, but there's a huge drop from the top program to the 20th.

re: Who do you see as your school's best player of all time?
Posted by murfvol on 7/13/18 at 6:30 pm
Reggie White would be the most common answer, but it might be Doug Atkins. He revolutionized the DE position, and was also the conference high jump champ. His 17 year NFL career put him in Canton.
Dale Carter and Carl Pickens are also in the discussion, as is Manning.
Eric Berry is the best player in the 2000s.

re: Would UT fans trade Pruitt for Mullen
Posted by murfvol on 7/7/18 at 2:31 pm
Good question. Mullen is much more proven so I'd take him today. I prefer a good known quantity.
I wouldn't take someone with Dooley's pre-UT track record over Pruitt, and probably not Butch Jones' given he followed Kelly everywhere.
I'd absolutely take Leach, but am not sure about Taggart.

I love Mike Leach, and he would kill it.
re: Can you move from level to level in Neyland?

Moving freely is easy, BUT concourses are narrow. If you move, do it at the end of the first quarter. Then you know what's fair game.
