The mess that Lebby inherited dictates that he gets some time. Program is in desperate need of stability and I think we will show improvement this year.
Unfortunately the schedule is very difficult and conference wins are going to be tough to come by.
But he is safe. Better play on the field and a couple of upsets will be the RX needed for State. And that is not out of the realm of possibility.

State extended Lebby which keeps the buyout reasonably high. He'd have go 2-10 or worse this year to really come close to being canned.

Agree. He inherited a mess after Riley left, so the first year is irrelevant.
That said, most Sooners feel he has to win 8 to keep going. 9 means no question he's staying.

So you think less than 8 and it's possible he's fired?

Less than 8 and he’s gone for sure. Joe C retired so he doesn’t have to do it. Joe and Brent are very close.

If he wins 7 games there’s no chance he’s getting fired.

Yep...he is only 30-9 over the last 3 seasons. Last season going 11-2 and barely making the CFP is way underachieving. Some may point out that it's the first 3 year period that UT has won 30 games since '98-00, but what do they know. Obviously, he is on the hot seat.

I think 3 coaches get canned, including Stoops and Pitman who will officially "retire".

Either Venables or Freeze will be fired.

Florida's schedule is still so tough that unless Napier goes 6-6 or worse he should be around for another year. 2026 is his shite or get off the pot season.

Tennessee could go 2-10 and he’d be in no danger of losing his job.

I doubt Pittman is fired.

The Powers That Be have already said they are spending on baseball and basketball and football is going to be meh.

Nice to have a high-paying job with low expectations.

Then that's the definition of a hot seat. 7-5 is 100% on the table for OU this year. I didn't realize it was that hot.

He won't.

He will stay as long as he likes it.

Pittman has one of less stressful SEC jobs.

Literally cannot fire Lebby this year. The coaching turnover, no matter the results, will be too much.

Fired Morehead after two seasons (deservedly)

Leach died at the end of three seasons

Fired Arnett after one season (deservedly)

And that formula almost can’t end with Lebby at two seasons.

Hate to say it, but BK would be higher if he didn't have a massive guaranteed contract.

If they were going to fire Sam I think it would have already happened. It feels like there has already been an agreement in place for him to be a placeholder until we could find a better option. Then he gets to ride off into retirement.

Sam should have been gone two years ago. Definitely next year.

If he isn't gone after this year barring some miracle, then Hunter needs to be tossed out with him.
