Ended in 2012. It’s less of a family and more of corporation these days

Actually A&M integrated pretty quickly… and even MO has started to feel southeastern. Texas and Oklahoma might be a stretch too far. The are not “southern” much less “southeastern.”
You need some decent teams elsewhere to help define the SEC. for gods sake stop right here, no more.

I don't care - All I care is more areas to recruit and more cash.

What family?
This is the most dysfunctional family dynamic ever.
Bama lords over all y'all, and y'all cower to them.
LSU is the only true rebel, but we now have pussies in our fanbase, mostly they hang out on tRant, that cower to Mighty Bama as well.
frick family. I cheer against every SEC team that's not LSU in a NC. Although I did start pulling for Bama in 2017 during the comeback just because it would have been funnier to troll the Dawgs for blowing it.
And I was right.

Texas is so southern is basically Mexico.

I’m suspecting within ten years I’ll no longer like CFB. It’s become such a cash grab…I’m losing interest more each year. Still my favorite sport…but less and less

Capitalism is destroying CFB.

The Yankees bringing their SJW shiite in 2012 ruined it. Everything else is just piling on.

It’s not the end of the world. Missouri definitely killed that feeling. A&M not so much. They fit in with us crazies pretty well despite some of their strange traditions. The SEC is all about traditions though.
Nothing at all is southern about Norman OK. Austin? Eh not so much either but I would say the state of Texas overall fits in more with the rest of the SEC states more than the state of Oklahoma does. Central Texas is kind of southern. East Texas is as southern as it gets. Right up there with Mississippi and Alabama culturally. Oklahoma is more of a Big10 state. They have more in common with Nebraska and Iowa than they do with Louisiana and Georgia.

Grew up on Aggie hate in Baton Rouge, so they felt like a natural add... Missouri still feels like an afterthought. While OK is not Southern, they have been elite for a while, so teams like Bama, LSU, and UGA will feel more connection with them than with Texas.

The family feeling left, for me, when the conference expanded to 12 for a championship game. Money spoke very loudly for the first time. Now it’s a tinnitus-like roar all the time, affecting everything. I don’t like it but I have to accept it or give up on college athletics. I’m still undecided if I’ll stick with it.

I don't want to turn this into a Political discussion but Texas is, other than the Big Cities, a traditional Conservative State. Pro Business, pro law enforcement and order, 2nd amendment, etc.
With respect to Oklahoma, is more Southern than most Southern States. I think every one of the 77 Counties in that State voted for Trump in the last 2 elections, I know for sure in 2016. Politically it might be the most Conservative State in the Country, more so that TX, MS, AL, SC, etc. So in terms of Conservatism, Economic, Pro Law enforcement and order, stopping illegal immigration it would be a very politically conservative state.
If you look at what I guess Political Science describes as Religious Social Conservatism, OK is the home of Oral Roberts U and is heavy Evangelical Protestant and is considered part of the evangelical protestant theological Bible Belt. Consistent with that notion, on the other hand, it has < than half the average Catholic population in US, which is roughly 23% of the country.
It does have a large Native American population which I think gives it some uniqueness relative to say Louisiana, which does not.
So Texas and OU are both great Universities, great tradition and they will adjust and fit in with the SEC.

The original 10 will always be tight, no matter how many we add. Call me nostalgic but I believe that in my heart.

Pretty sure exactly what you just said could also be said about Big10 states like Iowa, Nebraska and Indiana.

Austin is where all the crazy libs in Texas congregate. It's well on its way to becoming a shitty San Francisco clone.
