You hired the flavor of the week and I expect him to be fired by 2026. Your recruiting will nose dive but that was going to happen even if you hired a good recruiter. Playing for the goat was an NIL proof advantage that has now vanished.

I view the Alabana game as “more than likely a win” now. Been a while since I felt like that.

That’s my honest opinion

It’s a risk. But usually most hires are a little bit of a risk

Good hire yes. Will he recruit better than Saban(or Kirby), no.

In the SEC, yeah. 45-50 is the young hire these days.

In the NFL you get younger HCs.

Think Alabama got the best available that wanted to come. If he brings a lot of his staff from Washington I think you’ll have Harsin 2.0. Will have to have some SEC coaches to hit the ground running in order to keep up recruiting. If he does this and Bama gives him two years I think he’ll be a 10 win a year coach. With the 12 game playoff NIL and transfer portal the years of one team dominating is over.

That's not going to cut it. There has to be a NC in that 10 years.

Honestly I think it’s a good hire. DeBoer has had a lot of success at Washington, which is not easy to do. I think he is an unproven commodity in the sense that the level of competition in recruiting and scheduling in the SEC is a different level than the PAC-12, so we will see how he does, but I think it’s a good hire.

The truth is that any hire except for maybe stealing Kirby from UGA would have been a step down from Saban, so you knew the trolls would go off about how Alabama will decline, but it’s silly to think Alabama can’t continue to be at the top of the SEC with DeBoer.

Replacing Saban is no easy task but I do not see DeBoer as a new Perkins.

It’s a good hire. My only concern is he has absolutely no ties to the south

DeBoer didn’t recruit as good as Lanning, Sark, or Riley. He was 6-0 against them. This obsession with recruiting rankings is really bizarre when you have a sample size like that.
