I would be surprised if he is still your head coach 6-7 years from now.
An auburn fan would know much about coaches not hanging around very long..

So DeBoer is going to have Saban literally in the stadium watching over him?

What could possibly go wrong there…

For a guy secure and confident enough in himself and his own skin to gladly walk into that situation and embrace it? Not a damn thing.

Sure. Over-compensate much? All the lsu fans harping since he's been hired? Their collective fear is showing.

I’m just glad DeBoer doesn’t have any connections to LA, you know…like Bama’s previous coach did.

What about a guy who is secure and confident enough to run his own program the way he wants without meddling from the last guy?

So DeBoer is going to have to answer to the AD, Saban, boosters, and the crimson masses… yikes

Probably so. Maybe you guys won't have to be butt hurt for 17+ years.

That was actually a compliment.

Good solid hire but certainly not great. DeBoer is not a culture fit and has a limited proven resume at the Power 5 level. Bama optimized the hire given the best targets didn’t want the job. Could have been far worse if Dabo or Rees would have been hired. DeBoer will do fine but don’t expect the greatness you had under GOAT.

I think it depends if recruiting stays the same based on the school name itself - he doesn't have a history that shows he's a great recruiter. Next year at Washington, had he stayed, would be looking at a 8-4 type of season.

The biggest obstacle is the fact that it appears Saban will still have some sort of involvement - which could absolutely cause friction.

Then I apologize for taking it the wrong way. Most of your LSU brethren fail to give complements.

I think it’s one of the more risky picks that Bama could make

Who were you going to get that would be better? A+ especially considering the timing of Saban's retirement. I guess you could argue that Kirby would have been better but Bama is shooting for higher than 3 CFP appearances in 8 years.

As good a hire as an AD could make following Saban and he could turn out to be a brilliant hire if he can continue the success Bama has enjoyed and that Deboer himself has had. He at least has the opportunity to prove it.

It was a good hire on paper. It remains to be seen whether it was a great hire in practice. It won't be easy following the GOAT.

Was it a cakewalk for any team not named Washington? Arizona, ASU, Stanford, UCLA, etc, etc, etc, etc...was it a cakewalk for them?

Judging by the reaction of Alabama detractors (Corndogs and barners: Looking at you) DeBoer is a fantastic hire

How well did Brian Kelly do with 4 weeks to prepare in his BCS and Playoff games? He was blown out in every single one of them. Badly.
