generational coach

20 years of coaching. A couple of very weak CUSA tatitles.

This is the part you LSU fans can't comprehend. He is not even an elite coach, much less a generational coach.

The statement was qualified with the word “potentially”. People forget that Saban averaged over 3 losses per year while he was here.

they had a budget and TAF gave more so they could exceed the budget

I have hopes, that some day, some here here will understand this.

But today isn't that day.

University of Chicago is known for having one of the best economics programs in the world. They had a $288 million deficit in 2024.

LSU athletics has overspent its budget over the past six years by a total of $177.5 million, Rousse told the Regents at their annual budget hearing for all schools under their purview. The $44 million shortfall was covered by the Tiger Athletic Foundation, Sunstrom said.

This is so we can continue to collect millions of dollars while using EBT cards to pay our revenue sharing…

Universities should be required to be fiscally sound if they offer any type of business, management, or finance degrees. Unfortunately LSU isn’t alone.

It is not sustainable. It is all going to crash spectacularly someday and sooner than most people think. First and foremost no university exists to support a football program. They are ran by people who's lives are spent in academia...many of who do not like athletics to begin with. The money at ANY university is in grants and academics drives that....and even at east central state university that money dwarfs the money driven by the most successful athletic department. The money driven by the AD is nice for branding and for support from the state and local governments but the serious money is in the labs and libraries....when the AD either costs the labs and libraries or embarrasses them the actual power at any university will stop the madness.

This is not a matter of if but merely one of when. The AD and the University neither one has "control" of who the players wearing their brand are doing business with. Sports gambling is RAMPANT in the US. I am all for gambling if an adult wants to gamble. That said I am not a degenerate gambler. They exist. It is only a matter of time before there is a scandal in CFB on this front that makes the NBA look like a group of choir boys. There is simply too much money involved and NO one is minding the store. Officials aren't even professionals. Ponder that for a momentum and imagine what a couple of holding calls or PI calls can do to turn a game. Imagine what a QB can do during a game without being overly obvious...hell OUs QB did it at least twice against UGA last week. That was pure ineptitude but it certainly ensured UGA covered...and it was and rightfully so viewed as ineptitude....this is going to happen. Probably is happening on some scale but it is going to happen and be a massive scandal and it is idiotic to think that a entity whose real money is driven by academics is going to stand by and have that brand tarnished in that manner and to that degree. It is only a matter of time. Billionaire donors aren't all donating to ensure their alma mater has a competitive football team....many are doing it to also have access. Eventually that is going to become a scandal. It is inevitable.
