LSU athletic department overspends budget by $177M
Universities should be required to be fiscally sound if they offer any type of business, management, or finance degrees. Unfortunately LSU isn’t alone.

LSU athletics has overspent its budget over the past six years by a total of $177.5 million, Rousse told the Regents at their annual budget hearing for all schools under their purview. The $44 million shortfall was covered by the Tiger Athletic Foundation, Sunstrom said.

This frustrates you because you think / hope it is indicative of an ongoing financial problem.

Translation:
LSU AD is swinging around a massive dong lately & boosters (TAF) have his back
We continue to be “broke”, year after year. It’s amazing!
People cannot stop talking about LSU.
TYFYS.

How does a person join a forum and talk about college sports yet still not understand the university is out of pocket $0 for the athletic dept?

Very strange since I've been reading that no one cares about LSU since I started reading this board regularly back in 2018.

Dude what are you smoking? Do you not know that universities can pay NIL directly to players up to $22 million annually? So the money made from SEC media revenue that normally funds the athletic department is now being used to pay players directly. So yes that’s a little more than $0 out of pocket.

I’m sure your reaction would be different if the article were about the University of Alabama, Florida, Texas A&M or anyone else.
