How did LSU fans view Lane Kiffin before he ever came to LSU?

I've noticed that nearly all LSU fans consider Kiffin to be an almost God like head coach, now that he's coaching LSU. Anyone who has anything even remotely negative to say about Kiffin, the LSU fans immediately shoot it down and come to his defense.
So my question is, did all of you LSU fans jerk-off to Kiffin when he was coaching the Raiders, Tennessee, USC, FAU and Ole Miss or did this whole circle jerk begin once he stepped off the plane at LSU?
Did any of you LSU fans ever say that Kiffin has only been good at 2 schools that had very little pressure to succeed; FAU and Ole Miss. And when he has been in high-pressure head coaching jobs, like the Raiders, Tennessee and USC, he has absolutely shite the bed and struggled in pressure jobs/situations.
Not that I would say that LSU fans are two-faced hypocrites or anything, I was just wondering how you all felt about Lane before he ever flirted with the LSU job.

LSU fans have always been interested in how an offensive mind like Kiffin would do with LSU's roster and the offensive talent that a state like Louisiana produces. That's been the general consensus since he came back to the SEC.

I personally thought he was just an OK hire but after all of the gump and ole miss meltdowns, I now know it was a great hire.

USC and Raiders are fair, he was only at Tennessee for a season so kind of odd to say he shite the bed.
I would say all of that was over a decade ago, and he's had his best success most recently.
Here I am, a year ago:

Hated him but thought he was a very good coach. I was pissed LSU didnt hire him years before, was to be honest i thought that Ole Miss had overtaken LSU as a program. I viewed him the same way Ole Miss view him now.
Now that hes LSU's HC I can overlook the Tweets and I love the shite talking.
So id say im somewhat (like most) a hypocrite when it comes to HC's

You spent 2 hours today talking about Lane Kiffin in a thread I made about Butch Jones. Neither LSU nor Lane Kiffin have anything to do with Butch Jones and Joshua Dobbs yet somehow you brought him into it and argued about TN unfair treatment of him 16 years ago.
You are obsessed with Kiffin and would sell your soul for the chance to suck his penis. You are a freak

Lane is a great hire for LSU, but he has his own little issues both on and off the field and I know most LSU fans are aware of that and have admitted as such. He’s very hit or miss about certain things, and I know he will drive some LSU fans INSANE with some of his bonehead 4th down calls. Dude has a proclivity for just being obtuse on those, and also just some character issues off the field. Lol, the stories from people I know that knew him at Alabama were enough to make me relieved he wasn’t staying all those years ago, and is why I was pretty sure he wouldn’t be in the running after Saban retired, but it’s possible he's cleaned up his act. All that aside, I genuinely want to see LSU get competitive again, and he’s a good chance of that… but there are definitely some wild card aspects about him that I would still feel nervous about if I were an LSU fan. Like, good hire, but it’s not a slam dunk as much as some are peacocking on here about.

Meanwhile, in the real world, an Alabama poster actually brought up Lane. I replied to that post, then you engaged me.
You seem to struggle with reading and comprehension.

I always liked him as a coach. Thought him and coach O were going to be a great combo 2017- onwards after O’s hire was official.
Was no doubt the coach I wanted after BK started not to workout. I was tired of CEO type coaches and wanted someone who can control one side of the ball.

Thought he was a hell of an offensive coach and seemed to get good talent, but didn't focus on defense enough and had maturity issues.
He seems to have come around on the defense piece and despite his addiction to twitter, which I hate, I think he has grown up some (and been sober a while). Over the last couple of years I've found myself wishing we had him (and a couple others) over Brian Kelly, so I'm happy with it. He really made Ole Miss formidable the last couple of years.
You weigh the bad and the good. I think LSU is a good spot for him with the recruiting and the money we'll spend on defensive coaches. Just need him to continue maturing.
My biggest hesitation with him is that I know he'll jump for the NFL if given the right opportunity, so we just need to get as much out of him as possible.

I agree with all of that. I think the Ole Miss success is a bit overblown because they played some very weak schedules so that makes me a bit hesitant.
I think he was the best option available, with the information we had at the time.

I wonder if we’ll ever see an Alex Golesh thread on the SEC Rant.

I've always felt that he was a pretty good coach. I don't look at any human as a God & I haven't heard or talked to any LSU fan that looks at him that way so you are way off in your thinking.

I personally liked the guy once I saw him go to bama and allow himself to be updated by Saban. He took Saban's discipline like it or not and got better

I didnt want to play against him. Therefore I didn’t like him. But still wished he’d be LSU’s coach.
Who is Auburn’s coach again?

He is a good coach and has been for a long time. He let his personal life get in the way of his ascension when he was at Alabama, had to do a coaching reset stint at FAU, and had a lot of success at Ole Miss despite not having elite recruiting classes. He's a proven offensive guru that should be able to have a lot of success at LSU.
^if I were an LSU fan, that's how I'd look at him. That's how I look at him as a Rebel fan

I've been saying he's the best offensive mind on the planet for many many years.
said bama was retarded for not hiring him.

Same thing I said before he was hired. He's a great offensive mind that will excel in the transfer portal era. But, he takes too many chances when it's not necessary. It feels like he's playing some immature game with the other team's DC and wants to stick it to him. I'm old as frick so I also hate all of the basketball bullshite on the sideline and in the locker room.
His potential at a place like LSU is captivating though. He has a chance to do something special here. But, we won't know until we see if he continues to grow as a coach. He wasn't the hottest name in coaching for no reason. The potential seems limitless as does the fallout. Either way it's gonna be interesting.
