And he has not won his case.

The case still has to be decided.

He is playing under an injunction.

The NCAA still maintains he is ineligible but can’t enforce punishment due to a court injunction

This is the same situation as these players

And these new rules are enforced evenly instead of arbitrarily? There will be pros playing multiple different sports throughout the NCAA.

People forget too when Trinidad TRO was came down.. 5 to 5 rule was not made by NCAA yet too.. Even though Trinidad is still within the 5 for 5 rule with his ruling just from how many years has played and not. People are too dumb to realize that.

Nope. Ole Miss’ own web page refers to 2025 as Chambliss’ 5th year and 2026 as his “Fifth Year+”.

Is it? Unless the NCAA has some wizardry up their sleeves for all intents and purposes it is over.

Did the TRO from Louisiana bar punishment from the SEC? Chambliss' did iirc. Might be time to judge shop a little better next time.

The NCAA is boned the SEC maybe/maybe not. That's for the courts to decide and is a big risk literally a week before kickoff.

He doesn’t have to. He got the injunction. If you want professional football players to play college football, that’s your prerogative. I, and most people disagree with that. For the record, I don’t fault Lane or LSU for trying to take advantage of a broken system. He’d be trying to do the same thing at Ole Miss. I am not ignorant to that.

Don't think so. 2025 was his 5th year going by the 5 for 5 rule. The exceptions for the new rule were made for players from the 2022 class that played all four years and hadn't used a redshirt.

Going by the now active 5 for 5 rule, he is ineligible. However, his case was before that rule was implemented. They were applying for a 6th year of eligiblity, trying to claim his 2022 season should count as a medical redshirt.

Trinidad- never declared for the draft and never signed a professional contract.

He didn’t have to declare because he was already out of eligibility and would have automatically been draft eligible.

He’s just the beneficiary of timing and being able to get a court ruling before the NFL draft.

I will agree there.

I don't think the juice is going to be worth the squeeze given the timing.

But I think legally the players are going to win given all of this arbitrary enforcement that will still remain.

Functionally yes it’s over because it won’t be heard until after season at which point Trinidad and OM will move on and not incur any court room costs.

That doesn’t mean the NCAA has withdrawn its claim that he’s an ineligible player.

Bediako is no longer eligible. Chambliss never entered the draft or went pro.

It is really quite simple but you will need to pull your head out of your arse first and see the light

I think you're missing the point on Bedaiko.

Bedaiko was just as much as a former pro as the two former Ole Miss football players. He petitioned for, and received, a TRO from a judge. Whether or not he was inevitably successful isn't really relevant here. The question the OP posed is why the SEC didn't have the same reaction to the TRO, which is all the two former Ole Miss players (and others in the lawsuit) have received thus far, same as Bedaiko last year. The SEC's reaction wasn't to say "Nate, this kid may have a TRO to play, but if you do play him we're going to suspend you for half the season and fine your school by half their revenue share." They let the thing play out in Court and yes Bedaiko was ultimately denied his relief at trial and didn't play anymore.

I think the question is why is the SEC now drawing lines in the sand when they haven't previously. This isn't the first time a former pro has received an injunction from a Court. Is this just a straw that broke the camels back situation?

Full transparency, I don't think any of these former pros (including those from overseas) should be playing college athletics. But I do think it's interesting at how the NCAA and SEC pick and choose their battles which is why the Courts keep favoring the athletes over and over again.

I think they'll win too but it'll be too late for this season. Timing sucks but that's how this works nowadays.

You guys can say this until you are blue in the face, but he was ruled ineligible due to NCAA rules. That's precisely why he had to get a judge to override the NCAA
And the NCAA will vacate the wins Ole Miss has with him playing because the TRO is temporary and his ineligibility will reappear once the TRO is settled. The NCAA has got to get some control back to have any credibility left for them with the majority of fans. They have been asleep at the wheel for far to long. I mean Congress has to legislate how the NCAA operates. Every person with an office (cubicle functionaries are safe) at the NCAA should be fired.

Yeah, I think this is going to work out better for the basketball players given the timing
