A lot of them just like to complain because it is in Alabama. But Hoover (Birmingham) is the closest location to the geographic center of the conference that is capable of hosting it.

Who was it that always started that thread every year? Farmer maybe? Last baseball season made him quit posting I think, which is a shame. He would really have enjoyed this season.
Think it was Farmer1906, not sure what happened to him.
I like Hoover fine, why fix something that isn't broken?

I did notice Ole Miss is not in attendance, if only Pete coached baseball too right?

Short answer? It's a great venue. No serious person would say it isn't.

Instead of playing in this meaningless tournament, they preferred to focus their efforts on getting ready for the NCAA regional, whichever one they may be playing in. They allowed Missouri to win in order to affect an early exit. Because... who wants to win and likely host a regional if you win a couple games.
Or came completely unprepared to play, didn't start one of their best pitchers an did Ole Miss things.
Or something like that.

Hoover is a great location. It doesn't have the highschool stadium dimensions like GAs stadium and is close to what you would be playing in Geauxmaha.

im not a fan of the stadium/field but it seems to be in the perfect location as far as being central for everyone. I do miss the old days when it would rotate between conference teams though.

Where did they play?
The Texas Ranger’s ballpark in Arlington, TX.
It was so uninspiring.

Don’t forget there were multiple people lobbying for Bricktown. Right in the heart of the SEC…

I don't remember Bricktown. Where is that; Tulsa?

Do they sell beer/alcohol at the SEC tournament in Hoover yet?
I've wanted to go for yrs, but the lack of beer in the stadium really lowers my interest

They didn’t sell it the last time I went (2016) but the restroom stalls were STACKED with mini liquor bottles. Very light security. I enjoyed it!

Big 10 started in 2011, SEC in 2019. While I agree it is relatively new, 7 years is plenty of time to implement it at conference championship events.
If they allow the individual schools to sell beer at athletic events, why not at their championship games/tournaments? Just seems dumb to me, no idea what could be holding them back.
I'm pretty sure the CWS, football natty, and final four sell beer

One thing I love about college sports is sneaking in booze. I did it prior to 2019 at neutral site games where alcohol was sold and have done it since 2019.
It is practically a tradition to tape plastic bottles of Beam to my legs and walk in.

I did that for football games all thru college. But something about a Saturday or Sunday baseball game during the day that makes me crave beer over liquor.

I'm with ya man. Beer and baseball just go together. But not having beer in Hoover isn't a reason not to go.
