It's really weird that after beating Auburn and moving toward the playoff, Alabama is desperately trying to damage GM's reputation. Bizarre really.

Yeah, lots of riveting stuff happening on this Monday.

My bad.

offensive minded coaches go after offensive recruits harder and they often put their best players on offense.
Check our last 2 years recruits and you will see we recruited defense as hard or harder than offense.

Again, trying to shoehorn perception into reality.

There's nothing to dispute. You'll think one way, I'll think another. TOP/plays per game/first downs per game, they all refute the claim AU scores too quickly to have an above average D. It's just wishful thinking on the part of other fans to think AU isn't capable of having a solid D with a faster paced offense.

So what has been the problem with Auburn defenses?

What do you guys think? If it's not the system - then it must be the defensive coordinators. But if it's the defensive coordinators, then it means they - for whatever reason - don't do as good of a job at Auburn than they do everywhere else.

Might as well be, it's long enough.

Oh snap, I didn't see that this was a discussion about the Iron Bowl game. I will read the OP again and get up to speed.

We lack depth. We commit too many penalties. We had our most dynamic defender hurt in the spring. I know people look for a magic bullet that explains everything quickly and neatly , but it is a host of things that need to be fixed.

None of our recent d coordinators have been lights out d coaches everywhere else. We are playing in the best division of college football. We have a talent and depth gap that is slowly being closed. It is harder to put up good d stats here than it is in some other places.

Nobody tries to tear down Vandy because nobody fears them. People only try to tear down what they do fear. This type of post really just proves how terrified Alabama fans are of Malzahn and the possibility he could hire someone of Muschamp's caliber as the defensive coordinator

shite you're right. I'll tell OP to delete this thread because it is completely irreverent to a SEC football message board. What a fool OP is. Us fans need to start putting 1000% of our focus on Mizzou or we may just lose.

Maybe you can break the OP down for me I am having troubles picking out the material concerning the game you want to discuss.

Yeah... I guess you're right.

We shouldn't talk about anything except whatever game we have coming up.

I'll try to remember that.

The fact that 2012 was even included in there is a joke for starters.

Gus is an offensive coach and we all know this. Like stated many times before, we're not asking for an elite defense. Just a serviceable one. In his time at Auburn, he has been to two NCG and won one of them. He has two conference championships also, so it's proven that he can win. The problem is that Johnson's defense was exposed against South Carolina and it has only gotten worse since. There was no sign of him turning it around either. Something had to change and it did.

Brian Van Gorder (2012): Produced some of the best defenses in Georgia history - top 10 in the country in total defense multiple years in a row. Won Broyles Award as top assistant in country. Great example.

ND allowed 40 points in a game just twice in four years under Bob Diaco. Notre Dame has allowed 40 points four times this year w/ BVG.

Notre Dame began playing football in 1887. They've played 1,233 games over 127 years. Cody Kessler is the 1st to throw 6 touchdowns on them.

I'm not sure if you are aware or not, but Alabama actually went up against Muschamp's defense this year. Records were set. Go ahead and hire him. We schooled his Gator D with a RB taking snaps behind center.

I have no problem with you discussing anything or what you are focused on, hell this board is full of stupid threads like this one. I was just challenging your first post that was full of shite, but you knew it was when you wrote it.

Just as stupid as the one that you were referring to.

I think for hurry up teams looking to score fast a opportunistic ball hawking defense is better suited to go along with it.

The best example of this I have seem was 2011 Ok State. Huge TO margin disparity.
