I don’t need to. I didn’t kill anybody.

Ruggs deserves 26…at least.

In this awful alter reality of yours, if an individual went to work as a doctor, drunk, and killed someone by cutting their carotid artery while performing an appendectomy because he was too drunk to tell a neck from an abdomen, that guy should live a normal life of a doctor donating his salary and warning 1st year Med Students of the perils of drinking before an operation?
Getting to see his family. Not having to eat prison rations. Getting to sleep comfortably in his bed beside his lover? Never missing a graduation, wedding, birthday party, Holiday? Not having to wonder if Big Tony was coming back for a healthy, heaving, helping of thundercocking his a-hole?
You can see how this is stupid, yes?

Sub question: would you let anyone you loved get operated on by that Dr?

If Ruggs went to LSU the secRant would want him down for all 26 with Scott Woodward and “whoever the new coach is” getting four also for allowing it to happen.

The amount of downvotes over there will tell you how many zealots know they just got called out >>>>>>>>

Ruggs deserves nothing less than the death penalty. He will not receive it due to the amount of bleeding heart liberals that have taken over this country however… He murdered another human being… He should not be allowed to enjoy life ever again…

Agreed. It will be up to him to change his ways. He'll have to learn how to live an "other's first" kind of life.

Many posters want us Bama fans to defend Ruggs. It burns them up (obviously, no pun intended) that none have. He needs to go away for a very long time.

So just because she was childless that means he gets off in less time? Stupid.

Are you trying to piss people off?

Because sympathizing with a dude that just murdered someone and calling his likely sentence "a lot" just doesnt seem right.

I know that's easy to shout in a mob but
while senseless, completely stupid and without
regard to human life, Ruggs did not plan to kill someone.
It was not premeditated, a requirement
for first-degree murder and had no prior criminal
history.
He WILL be given a prison sentence and all
wealth accumulated in his short NFL career taken by
lawyers and suits. Life as he knew it, is over
and will not come back.

Judge not lest ye be judged. Christians sure do like to arbitrarily pick and choose when they will obey their own teachings. We may not like to admit it but deep down under the right conditions every human is capable of doing what Ruggs did and worse.

No the other guy had 3 previous DUI arrests and 1 prior conviction for DUI.

Henry Ruggs has 0 arrest record.

The other guy killed a mom of 3 and severely injured 3 other people.

His case is different than Ruggs.

This is the sad truth. He'll do enough time to warrant the crime. But, He'll be broke in more ways than one. As you said, life as he knew it will all become just a distant memory..

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's family.. but nothing that is done to H.Ruggs is going to ease their hurt or loss..

At 22 years old I bet the guy plays in the NFL again. Our justice system is soft as hell right now.

I seriously doubt that the NFL wants the kind of bad publicity that would cause.

With that said, he may face 6-8 counts. But, if it he calls for a trial the prosecution will bring everything they can against the young man.. But, that would be a huge gamble for either side and most likely not one either side is willing to risk!
