I frickin hate UGA but it’s hard not to like that kid. He had a couple throws last night that were immaculate. Absolutely indefensible. Must be nice to have a QB who delivers in the clutch. I’ve forgotten what that is like. Saturday will be joyless murder ball.

I agree. I think the game came down to experience at QB. Keelon has more talent and a higher ceiling, but you can’t buy big game experience.

He made 3-4 throws in particular the throw to basically ice the game to our TE Williams and a few throws to Dandridge that were absolute fricking dimes in extremely tight windows that I, hand to god, did not think he had the ability to even make.

I still think Stetson throws a better deep ball but Stockton is showing a downright insane ability to hit tight windows in intermediate to 25ish yard level throws.

Gunner is a dawg (pun intended). Not the flashiest but has that old school toughness and a winner. He is what I love most about college football. Local guy who stays in state and puts his head down and works. No trouble, no drama, just plays the game he loves and wins. Really hope Bama has a chance to play Georgia again. That was a great game!

I don't understand why people say he isn't flashy. Is willing your team to victory not flashy? He can make every throw. He is mobile. Is it because he is short and white?

Stockton played a hell of a game, and give his O-line a major assist because we could not get pressure on him. That was the difference in the game.

We had Carson Beck ahead of him and were recruiting Archie Manning behind him, and Gunner Stockton said "I'm not leaving. I am going to be the starter at UGA".

He worked and willed himself to these moments.

Yes.
He isn't a bonafide NFL QB.
And for the espn college football fanbase/media, what you can do today is never what matters.

There is no nuance in a national level college football environment.

All the stuff about Gunner having great toughness and being a high character guy are true, and he is a great story from the standpoint of his dad playing at Georgia and playing in the North Georgia mountains (traditionally not a hotbed of D1 talent).

BUT, I feel like there’s been this narrative around him that he’s just that. Just a nice story and isn’t it neat that this plucky little guy is starting for Georgia.

He was a 5* for most of recruitment process and ended up as a 4* on signing day. He has a cannon for an arm and is tough to bring down. He’s legitimately very talented.

When people say “he’s limited” I’ve never understood exactly what those “limitations” are. He’s just a really damn good quarterback.

I think with the right coach/team he definitely has some NFL options and could have a long career.

Not really.

Whether it was physical, mental, or something completely different, Georgia’s intermediate to deep passing game was lacking last season. It looks significantly better so far this season.

Height, speed.

The entire premise of the NFL is to create offense at the QB position without the help of your offensive line and run game.

If I had to guess, Gunner gets his 3 years on an NFL team.
The problem for Gunner extending that beyond 3 years is that the other career backup potentials may be quicker, longer striders. When you are paying a backup, they still look at long term potential.

Other 3 year UGA QBs include Aaron Murray. Jake Fromm got a 4th year on a practice squad.

Stetson Bennett has an opportunity at being a career NFL backup (this is his 3rd season). But he ranked 1st in his NFL draft class in the short shuttle. He has that ability to translate at the next level as a QB who can create plays when the OL and running game do not help him out.

Stetson Bennet was a gamer with a drug problem, not unlike JFF. If Stockton gets with he right team he might have a nice NFL career. I wouldn’t be surprised he goes into coaching. He’s one of those guys who know how to get the most out of his players around him.

Might have had something to do with our WRs leading the universe in dropped passes.
