Alabama didn't win their first legitimate championship until 1961. Tennessee, Auburn and LSU all had nattys before Alabama.

In 2007, Nick Sabans record was 7-6
In his second year at Alabama, Nick Saban led the Crimson Tide to a 12–2 record in the 2008 season, which included a win over Virginia Tech to open the year, a 31-17 loss to Utah in the Sugar Bowl.

In 3rd year Saban went undefeated and won Natty beating Texas

All you losers need to shut the f up. DeBoer bested Saban his first year.

Bama I predicted was a 10-2 team this year. Worst case 9-3.

Why ya’ll worrying?

70 mil reasons why he ain’t getting fired. But the bama media & fanbase will make life miserable for him & his family. He’ll look to GTFO if things don’t really change. He can get $70 million over 10 years a bunch of places.

Alabama just needs to accept that it’s going to take 3 years minimum before another coach wants to take that job. DeBoer is and always was a placeholder so the next real coach doesn’t have the pressure of following Saban.

The problem with the FSU game was that Alabama underestimated the opponent. FSU has made some necessary changes since the last season. Their defense looked better than it did last year and Castellanos is the real deal at QB.

So you're telling me that Alabama came off a disappointing season for them, including a loss to Vandy and a bowl loss to 7-5 Michigan (a rematch for them after Michigan beat them in the playoffs in 2023)....

and they come into a road game at Florida State assuming they'll win because "we're Alabama"?

This isn't exactly reassuring.

Well KD is winning. He had a winning season. What’s hard is winning to the degree Bama is used to under Saban. 24 years between Bryant and Saban yielded 1 NC between 7 different coaches. No. It’s not all that easy.

Of those 7 coaches, 6 of them won 10 games in a season. The one coach that didn't, Mike Price, never coached a game.

Mike Dubose won 10 games, beat Steve Spurrier twice, and won an SEC championship.
Mike Shula had them at 10-0 and #3 in the nation in 2005 going into the LSU game.
Put either at LSU, he's the second coming of Curley Hallman.

So, I don't know whether it's "easier" to win at Bama, but it is something they do very well. Bad coaches have good years; good coaches become great; great coaches become legends.

That's why it's the best job in college football. It is what it is.

GEAUX TIGERS!

Can you think of any differences between the situations the two coaches inherited?

Bama must be stuck in wonderland. A coach like Saban may not come around for another 40 years, get used to the real world now. Texas was just down for a decade, hope you can handle it.

LSU fans tend to throw scores around. How did they do last year against Bama? Im sure they played on the road. Or Auburn? I didn’t watch because we didn’t play them. Enlighten me.

I can see a scenario where he bails with some money. Bama won't be throwing the bags this time for his replacement. I think Byrne nails that hire.
