Pretty much agree with your take on the Gators. I think if the stars aligned with Lagway and other key pieces staying healthy all year (unlikely) we could get to 9 wins IN SPITE of Napier. But that's only if everyone stays healthy, Lagway is as good as he's hyped to be, and Napier doesn't outright lose us many games with his awful, scared money play calling. The schedule is potentially tougher than last year, so it WILL get ugly if Lagway is out any real amount of time. Mertz, for as painfully mediocre as he was, was much better than anyone we have behind Lags right now.

8-4, with this schedule, may objectively be a "succesful" season for this squad, however it's year 4 and Billy has ran out of excuses IMO. To his credit he has increased the talent level of the team, but that's a double edged sword for him because there's no excuse now that we have the players. Personally I don't think he'll ever evolve beyond what he is now with us based on his body of work presented thus far but with our dumbarse AD and still no president at the school, he may get another year at 8-4 or 7-5 regardless. Which is embarrassing and would be another nail in the coffin for the football program.

Kentucky, tell us about the benefits of being a basketball school..

We have one of the toughest schedules in the country this season (even fricking Toledo is receiving votes). And I just don’t have great faith Stoops can turn things around to the degree that we see a winning season. My guess is 4 wins.

Kentucky fan is the second person talking about Toledo. The other person is a MSU fan. Holy Toledo!

To be fair, I believe history shows that Stoops never had a mandate to "turn things around." IMHO it seems UK is fine with him just keeping it between the ditches: not horrible/not getting into the CFP, just keeping the program respectable. It seems the Admin and the fans are OK with this and there's nothing wrong with it as long as everyone has the same goal. It's just not a priority. It's a fact UK fans have to live with.

Will lose one they shouldn’t, but will beat Louisiana State as usual.

I think 9-3 is likely if Lagway doesn't miss any games. We have to at least split LSU and Miami though or I could see Napier falling apart and us going like 7-5 which should get him fired.

Nine million dollars a year salary says otherwise. You can be a mid program for a shitload less per year.

9-3. I think that's for the foreseeable future. Kinda like A&M is 8-4.

7-9 wins

We are slowly getting better. Harsin was the worst coach since the guy Shug replaced in 1950. Both lines should be improved. WRs and DBs should be good. LBs are iffy. RBs are probably solid, but not spectacular. Kicking game, which was a real problem last year, should be better.

It’s a fact we’ve had to live with since 1953 when Adolph Rupp ran off Bear Bryant. I was hoping there would be a paradigm shift regarding football at UK with Stoops’ success but basketball still rules.

Just today, two short weeks before CFB gets underway, I was getting my truck serviced and the mechanic noticed a UK blanket in the back seat. He immediately started blabbing basketball.

I asked him what he thought about UK’s football chances this season and he looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. I suppose that’s a good analogy for the difference between football fans and b-ball fans in Kentucky. We don’t speak the same sports language.

8-5 is my guess after a meaningless bowl game that is not is not sold out...and yes Billy will get booed at home again this year...because he is terrible

It’s crazy how much the opinion on Stoops changed in 2-3 years.

Was a huge supporter in his 3rd and 4th years when most wanted him run off. Our AD has to be the worst contract negotiator in the history of the NCAA and now just hoping Ferentz retires from Iowa after this season and he bolts if they offer.

Anything over 3 wins this year would be a shock.
