He never fully recovered imo. Never played with the same recklessness as he did early in his career

He saved that game. Mario was about to score and pretty much win the game. He laid a lick on him and dislodged the ball.

I think it took them 15 mins to wake him up.

UGA hasn't had an elite team sans for 2012 since 2008...I don't see why it is surprising that our record against top opponents is sub-par. especially when you consider our 09-11 years.

Yeah on TV you could see the lights were out before he hit the turf. It was a great play, but one that changes how you play, understandably

Thanks for posting. Never understand why some folks attack the poster when they post articles from know writers. Credible information from someone that gets paid to do it.

Mark Richt should be fired immediately. frick 2014. Any new coach, ANYONE, could put together a nationally competitive team within 2 years at Georgia.

It isn't like Tennessee where they rely on poaching players from outside the state to make up for the deficit of instate talent.

At Georgia, you can sign just half of the top 50 players from the state each year and still finish in the top ten nationally in recruiting.

This vanilla offense bullshite has gone on long enough, where everything you do is predictable and it's pure talent that wins you games.

If Mike Bobo played a game of Chess with Bama's strength and conditioning assistant assistant analyst, he'd throw a pawn at a tree and yell "Yahtzee".

And kids get in trouble in every school, only at Georgia do kids feel coddled knowing they are in a glorified Sunday School and they only ever finally get kicked out when they've already decided they don't want to be there anymore.

Don't even get me started on the athletic department and the regents. They are the greediest ungreedy southern blue dog democrat arse whipes in the country. People like them will be extinct soon, it's sad a few still exist, and sadder they hold positions of power.

You can spin it however you want. It seems when we win there is always an excuse as to why we should have other than the fact we had the better football team/coaching/program/etc. And when we lose it's because we suck.

So we went 4-2 against Auburn the last six years, but the theory is we should have so that's no big deal? Interesting.

And how about that loss in Auburn last year? You know, the second time we had to play there in two years? We lost the game, but had we won it on a miracle the way Auburn did this same writer would have used that as an excuse as to how we really weren't the better team, so it shouldn't count or something. But Auburn pulled the miracle, and we lost, so we suck apparently.

Again, you can spin it any way you want. Bottom line, Georgia is 4-2 in the last six years against Auburn and it really isn't that close given the margins of victory, Auburn's bizarre home field advantage for two years in a row and one amazing miracle that simply didn't bounce our way. Congrats on the win, but not on having the better program - both academically and athletically.

And, not so deep down, you know I'm right.

At best, the programs are comparable. But most people would probably favor the team with 2 recent SEC titles, a natty, and another BCSNCG appearance.

Thinking UGA's football program is better academically is hilarious. Typical UGA nonsense.

All UGA, all the time for the Barners. Plus, Russ Mitchell's disdain for Richt is tired and overplayed. We get it, the guy doesn't like Richt. He predicted his firing in 2010. The guy has been grinding that axe for years.

You guys should go into politics.

Attack the messenger.

Scream "you are just skeered" from the rooftops.

All the while making excuses for your lack of success.

Facts are facts. uga's record against .500 teams is terrible. Not Top 10 teams, but .500 teams.

Oh well, enjoy mediocrity. At least we have an administration that demands winning and playing by the rules.

Rich does not coach well in big games.

Indeed, Richt’s next signature SEC victory wouldn’t come until October 27, 2012 – a sloppy 17-9 win over the Gators. That game featured Florida’s young quarterback Jeff Driskel, who accounted for four of the Gators’ six turnovers. Driskel actually fumbled twice on Florida’s three-play opening drive.

4 years, 11 months and 17 days between signature SEC wins … all the way back to November 10, 2007, a Georgia victory between the hedges in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.

Actually, it’s more damning than that. From that Auburn game in 2007 until Vanderbilt in 2012, Georgia did not beat a single SEC team that merely finished conference play above .500. Not one. A string of 35 conference games spanning nearly five years.

Really? seven seasons is a pretty decent sample size. Of course we could cherry pick UGA-style and look at 2002-2005. A time when Florida was down, South Carolina was mediocre, and Tennessee was slipping.

Yeah, really. I'm not saying it is not a good sample size, I'm saying that you'd expect him to choose a 5 or 10 year period, or to go back to a coaching change or the entrance or exit of a generational player (Stafford in '06 or Green in '08, maybe). Just odd, that's all.
