UGA plays 8 conf games and 3(Vandy, UK, ten) won't be over 500 any time soon so it's fairly limited chances to even play a .500 team.

Especially when a team is a lot less likely to be above .500 if you beat them. There's 8 games, so the other team can only lose two other than that. The stat skews itself in the losing direction. It sounds worse than it is.

That said, we were terrible in 2009 and 2010, making it worse.

It does indeed.

UF has 6 wins, 4 in 2012.
USC has 5.

Ah, so all of them happened in the last two years.

Good timing

It's a dumb stat since it's the last two seasons

The writer's thought process: "This used to be a problem, but it appears to have been reasonably fixed. frick it, fire him anyway."

If you're happy being just below the level that brings you championships then by all means, please keep him. Georgia will always be good, but not great, under Mark Richt.

You say that like I have any say in the matter.

Ignoring that, I think Richt is a good enough coach to win big with good coordinators, especially on defense. Hopefully we have that now.

So what about the years we've already been great under him?

and playing by the rules.

I see hook.

I am one GA fan who somewhat agrees with the article though. It does seem like we underacheive every year, but we don't always have luck go our way. Could have happened in 2012 SECCG, could have happened last year at Auburn without the miracle play. It turns around.

Dude, he's Phil Fulmer, don't you know? If he hasn't accomplished anything by now he won't ever.

I'm very impressed with Russ Mitchell's ability to conveniently leave out the discussion of the most recent college football season in order to make this article depict Richt in a more negative fashion. If you picked any coaches 3 worst years I'm sure most of them would have a very poor record against ranked teams. In the two years after that we ended up making the SECCG which isn't the ultimate goal, but I would hardly call those seasons a failure.

Some people say we will never be great with Richt and that we need to fire him, and if y'all can find a coach available that will come into UGA and take us to National Titles right off the bat I would love that. That being said, that's not a realistic expectation for any coach and Richt has proven he can have success. Dooley took 17 years to win a national title and I don't see anyone complaining about him. If we fire Richt we could easily end up in a situation like Florida, wanting to fire our coach two years into his new contract. So I think we're good with Mark.

Here lately it would appear as if Auburn can post only threads about Georgia. I guess it just shows when you can't beat your #1 rival consistently you have to move on to rival #2. However, recent history shows Auburn's record against Georgia isn't so hot either.

I wonder who their #3 rival is? Maybe it is time to move on again?
Honestly a great sample size is a dozen years - in that time period AU is 4-8 vs UGA, 4-8 vs LSU, and 8-4 vs Bama. Seems AU fans would concentrate more on the two teams they've had the hardest time beating in the last 12 yrs.

Concentrate on someone?

I am not coaching or playing the game.

I did not even write the article I linked. It took less than 60 sec to link it.

Are you already running wind sprints and getting your ankles taped for bammers first game? Way to be on top of things chief.
