When he was a GA at Bama he was one of 3 people who had a head set which could communicate with Saban, Saban thought he had one of the best football minds he had ever met as a GA.

If it happens congrats, I unlike most Bama fans, want him as Saban's replacement, his assholish personality is what it takes to be successful at Bama

Great recruiter.

Great hands-on defensive coach, definitely a guy you want on the field with the cones during drills coaching them up.

Pretty good at scheming and gameplanning on defense, but doesn't have a long enough resume` at DC to really say for sure. His resume` on paper is great, he won NC at Bama as a DB assistant, then got another NC ring as DC at FSU, then did a fantastic job at UGA recruiting and coaching, but really didn't get along with the AD and had alot of problems with our shitty OC and couldn't contain himself. When Richt was fired, it is unknown whether Kirby said "hit the road" or if Pruitt said "I don't want to work for Kirby".

He's had some personal issues. I think he's whipped one issue that was an albatross. Also, today's players don't like to be yelled at and he's had a head coach at a previous stop tell him to tone it down.

Would be the best 22nd choice as a head coach ever, IMO.

If you knew you were getting a monster recruiter and a good OC, would you take Tucker or Pruitt?

He won't tolerate mediocrity, that's why he tries to fight Richt.

He blitzes too much for my taste. As a HC? seriously?

Pruitt is Lane Kiffin as a DC, complete with banging coeds and secretaries. You'll love him.

That's why I'm asking. It's not like we're gonna have to break the bank for him. What I'm hearing is that it's either him or Tucker, and a mystery candidate in NY, and a nightmare candidate named Kevin Steele.

He's a redneck from a tiny little town maybe an hour southwest of Chattanooga. He's got an abrasive personality, but he's proven to be a pretty damn good defensive coach in brief DC stops at FSU, UGA, and UA.

Tennessee hiring Pruitt as HC, would be worst then hiring Dooley.

Are things this bad at Tennessee that they are having to chose the least worst candidate between Pruitt, Tucker and Steele?

Kiffin would be a by far better choice, but Fulmer is too butthurt to make that hire.

Pruitt at a place like Tennessee with no head coaching experience would be Embree at Colorado level of disaster IMHO.

I honestly cannot believe that an old guard guy like Fulmer would ever consider something that radically risky.

Pruitt needs total control (without showing that he can handle all of that control yet).

It could be a great experiment. But it would probably end poorly. Total control without fast results leads to an unhappy AD/fanbase. And I don't know how that would fly with Pruitt.

I think Kevin Steele would be a better fit for UT. Hire him now and give him an Orgeron sized buyout.

It worked out tremendously last year. The aggressiveness played a major role in all of the forced turnovers and big plays caused by Bama's defense. This year, the blitzing has been more out of necessity because the pass rush has been absolute dogshit. They can't generate pressure on the QB to save their lives. Plus his time at Florida State and UGA speaks for itself. He had the #1 pass defense in the country two out of three years he was the DC at UGA and Florida State. The man's a tremendous defensive coach.
