frick the rules and these refs have no discression either. you can tell if he's just going for a dirty killshot or if it's a hard hit trying to jar the ball loose, there is a difference.

It isn't the call, it is the rule. It is too subjective, especially for the penalty.
This rule needs to be changed not next year, not next week, but tomorrow or sooner. There is no way you can expect refs to consistently determine when the hit is too hard or not.
