OU being undefeated when we play helps Texas.

Texas won't play Tennessee unless both make the SEC Championship or the playoffs.

It doesn't help THAT much. Just keep winning in the SEC and you're golden -- it all takes care of itself.
y'all be as mean as you want, I'm gonna enjoy the football
Ole Miss has been cheating like hell and everyone knows it. But I think people are taking way too much joy out of this situation solely because they want to see Ole Miss take it on the chin. Pretty much everyone admits that cheating happens on a wide scale; the principal criticism of Ole Miss seems to be not that they are doing something uniquely awful, but that they suck so much at cheating that they got caught and therefore deserve what's coming.

But this case only further highlights the obviously arbitrary and capricious nature of the NCAA. Just because people enjoy seeing Ole Miss suffer doesn't change the fact that the NCAA too often behaves like a joke of an organization that is happy to ignore all kinds of problems in organized collegiate athletics so long as their bottom line benefits. People have made nice livings for themselves solely off the backs of the labor of college kids and they've had the gall to claim they're preserving the integrity of "amateur sports."

No one is fooled. Taking pleasure in Ole Miss's downfall here only legitimizes an illegitimate organization that could just as easily nuke any of our favorite programs because we all know this is going on everywhere. There are larger structural problems with college athletics that are being ignored solely because people enjoy seeing a school/team they hate on the receiving end of said arbitrary treatment.

Now, shite like what's going on at Baylor and what went on at Penn State? THAT'S what deserves true outrage, scorn, and sanction (on top of whatever criminal charges may be necessary). But Ole Miss luring players with money and gifts? Like any other school is innocent of this, or like it's even a bad thing. Why should government-funded institutions and corrupt organizations like the NCAA be able to make unfathomable amounts of money, while if these young men, many of who may only be able to play the game for a few years if they are lucky, so much as accept a free meal it's a cause for an inquisition?

There but for the grace of the NCAA go we. I don't care to rely on the NCAA's grace.

His face got real purple and he punched an offensive lineman according to rumors that I just made up.

How in the hell did Butch fall for that?

He probably doesn't even read the iTunes terms & conditions before agreeing to them :casty:
it's sad to see Bama fans throw away their life savings for the lulz :casty:

Does an 11-1 Aggie team make the CFB playoff???

I think it's going to be really difficult for any non-conference champion to make it. It would take a LOT of dominoes falling for that to happen.

If Clemson and Ohio State had lost last night, it'd be an interesting discussion.
In all honesty, this meme is so weird to me. I recognize that Tennessee fans here talk endless shite, but that's because it's the Rant and everyone talks endless shite. That's all this place is for.

Tennessee had expectations this year, but none outside of the most optimistic were predicting a national title, and even those folks recognized by and large that it would take a lot of luck to do that.

Last year Tennessee was expected to be okay and they were okay. But before that? When was the last time Tennessee had REAL expectations? 2008, maybe? 2005?

I recognize that this is not an answer to your question, which is about Tennessee posts on THIS board, but the whole thing about Tennessee always being preseason darlings strikes me as odd.
"On second thought, let's not go to the SEC East. 'Tis a silly place."

Hey, HEY! Now that isn't a positive attitude. This is supposed to be a happy place.

Or...wait, shite, this is the Rant.
sorry, everyone, I just wanted to interrupt this thread for a minute to talk about the new NCIS and this weekend's 60 Minutes.

fify

There are rednecks everywhere. Sometimes they go by different names, but they're rednecks, all the same.

People who think the South is the only place where you can find rednecks have literally never spent time in any rural area anywhere. I'm pretty sure there are rednecks in southeastern rural Germany.
if will muschamp caught you shite talking him he'd kick you right in your berry sack, buster.
