People keep saying this. No, it isn't. Players will get closer to each other more than the fans will. Say a player catches it...........it will be passed on to players from the other team. Players on each side will be attending classes and passing it around the campus. You say "there won't be students on campus because they will be taking classes online".....well, then there won't be athletes on campus.

Heard something on the radio the other day that they're talking about the possibility of online classes while also allowing athletes on campus.

That's wishful hoping. This thing is shutting down nations. It is being passed along at an alarming rate. The deaths will sadly continue mounting.

I have said it before.........this is a modern day plague with no end in sight. Asking kids/adults with young children to get out and compete, for our enjoyment, is some of the dumbest shite I have ever heard.

Now we have a real incentive.

Watch, this shite will be solved now.

They basically just said, “they say it can’t be done” to the entire nation. Now some redneck will drop everything and figure this thing out.

My advice to everyone would be to make your peace with the New Ways for the remainder of 2020, don’t attach yourself emotionally to what you are losing, and focus on being relentlessly positive. I don’t want to be sappy, but I feel FORTIFIED knowing that every Bama, Auburn , UGA, UF et al fan is feeling the same dread. The Old Way is gone for now. I can accept this and still thrive. It’s all about perspective.

He couldn’t sound more inbred if he tried. “He is going to let the smart people figure it” but it’s gonna end real soon

Not to mention that there has never been a vaccine for a coronavirus. If successful, which is highly doubtful, we may be able to say good-bye to most common colds and the risk of future coronavirus pandemics. Something good comes out of every bad situation but I sincerely doubt that a coronavirus vaccine will be developed.

They have abandoned the typical method of trying to begin by growing the live virus, which never worked for coronaviruses anyway, and are using newer methods involving surface proteins, or RNA strands, or even inserting proteins and genetic material into more friendly viruses. I believe something like 11 new vaccines created by American labs and pharma companies have already been submitted to the FDA.

I believe some workable vaccine will come from this. I won't speculate on it's effectiveness, but more companies and universities worldwide are working toward this vaccine than any single project in history.

Said this just a little while ago on Finebaum. I don't know what kind of clout he carries or knowledge he might have, but this would be freaking devastating.

Who will lose the most if there is no college football this fall? I say LSU/Alabama!

It drives me crazy that a SARS vaccine wasn’t developed in the mid 00’s. All because the greedy pharmaceutical companies found more profitable uses of their capital.

This thing shares 80-90% of the 03 virus’s DNA. If they had followed through on a vaccine it could serve as a template for the current virus.

The duplicitous nature of many private and university research labs is the main reason for my skepticism. There is an industry devoted to achieving research grants. The ROI for this taxpayer money is abysmal.

Some labs are still “working on” vaccines for SARS (since 2003) and MERS (since 2012). These are the most recent deadly coronaviruses prior to SARS CoV-2. I’m positive many labs are eagerly appealing for money, having no real idea of creating a vaccine. They’re mainly interested in keeping their labs working.

We need a watch group dedicated to holding them accountable to taxpayers.

Lol how have you idiots not realized that there will be 0 college sports played the rest of 2020?

If this is the case and there is no football in 2020–then there will certainly be no college sports played the entire academic year, and schools athletic budgets face extreme peril moving forward. Most power 5 entire athletic budgets are funded by football. Hopefully their men’s basketball pays for itself and maybe a handful of schools women’s basketball and baseball teams pays for themselves.

The rest of the athletic teams lose millions every year. Not having football this year is way worse than what y’all are realizing about just not having a season. This would threaten the solvency of a lot of schools athletic existence and many schools will be hoping for some sort of bailouts from their respective states to piece themselves over till the 2021 athletic year.
