It sure costs a lot for those ice cream cones they use as punishment.

don't doubt there's some of that but it's pretty obvious to everyone that Bama sweeps a lot of shite under the rug too

Even if they do, is that really a bad thing? Unless they are sweeping murders and rapes under the rug I think it's a good thing.

Guy doesn't get the rep of being a thug, doesn't get a record, and probably still gets disciplined pretty hard.

Can assure you its 100% the former. The support system in place is as remarkable as the rest of what Saban‘s built. Its close to a military academy..many players’ entire days are scheduled from early wakeup to tutors after dinner. Some struggle once they leave that.See Ro McClain

The same can be said of any major program. That's pretty standard.

These guys run into issues when the structure is gone BUT they also run into issues because they're now being handed more money than they've ever seen while in their early 20s. Everyone has expectations of what that millionaire lifestyle is supposed to be like and these guys do their best to live out the fantasy while being immature and handed enough money to get themselves into more trouble than they ever could've as a poor college kid out to smoke weed and/or drink underage.

It's easy for the most responsible person to frick up quickly in a situation like that and almost impossible for those who aren't as responsible or mature not to.

But let's blame his 3 years of football at Alabama and not the dumbasses who raised him, the dipshits who entitled him at a young age, or, better yet, his own pathetic dumb arse.

Its just all coincidence that they come from the same school. Just like its always a coincidence that fans that do the dumbest things are usually bama fans.

there’s no spare time for students to consider doing something other than their sport.

that's such bullshite. the players that care about their education do take advantage of it. the players who don't major in general ed and do just enough to get by. yes football is a huge commitment, but there are plenty of guys on every team taking very difficult classes in very difficult majors and go on to be very successful in fields that have zero to do with sports. There is time to explore other things. Some simply just choose not to

I worked in the Mal Moore (football) building as a grad student. I can assure you nothing gets swept under the rug. If you missed class you were running 110s at 6am and you were finishing by the time the second workout group got there just so they could see you.

I'm not going to take either side in this because no one her really knows anything, it's all conjecture. However, when people say things are getting swept under the rug they don't mean Saban doesn't punish them internally. They mean it never sees the light of day in the public.

What a ridiculous post! The point is that they ARE punished for their bad acts, not that it's made public. These kids are students just like the rest on campus. If they're arrested, it goes on public record just like everyone else, and if no crime is committed, why would they, or ANYONE have their name publicized?

Further I don't know what Bama fans are being so defensive about. Nobody comes to the SEC to play school.

Whoever downvoted this needs to get the stick out of his arse, cause that was some funny shite right there. Ha!!

It's going to be interesting to see how bama turns out after saban leaves. What happened to UT after they got rid of Fulmer has been an interesting study. bama drama after saban has a chance to top that. Frankly sucks saban is such a healthy machine cause who knows when that soap opera will begin.

Coach Bryant died just a few months after he retired. I suspect that CNS will be a huge player in the hiring and initial transition to the new coach. With Saban's record as an organizer and manager, I expect things to go much smoother the next time.

I get that but things have changed, and why I think UT failed so miserably at it. In a 30 year period we had 2 HCs, and both UT men.

Unlike hammy the turd, Im sure bama admins are on top of it more now considering all that has changed in recruiting, and media. Just hard to replace someone like a saban. He has it in check, but will the next guy be able to do the same? One thing is being a good HC, but able to be strict old school style like saban is just getting rare/harder today.

It's ridiculous to clarify what sweeping under the rug means in a general sense?

How? You had a player be a part of an assault/robbery............and was allowed to re-enroll because he was a hell of a football player. Explain how that is being "punished"?

What did the legal system deem his punishment to be? That's the authority that's suppose to administer punishment. I assume you're referring to Pettway, so if you are, then you know that he was kicked off the team, left school, served his punishment and was allowed to come back....since then have you heard anything negative about his life?...apparently Saban made the correct decision to give him a 2nd chance.
