From the way WT makes it sound, he's had a huge culture change to get through. Academics being his main focus, just getting them to go to class and work period.

FSU hasn't changed from the days when Bowden got a bunch of wins vacated due to academic fraud. They have avoided the NCAA hammer by hiring people from the NCAA to work in their compliance department. It's like people in Congress and the Administration going to work as lobbyists.

Couldn't happen to a better team...keeping a raptist on the team and the Tallahassee Police and DA office always hold their hands over their eyes to not see anything. Screw them cheating bastirds.

LOL @ their AD trying to blame it in part on fan's attitudes...

quote:

“It’s a reflection of the last two or three seasons we’ve had, the schedule we have at home, and the attitude of this generation between 20 and 40 about going to live sporting events,” FSU athletics director David Coburn told Warchant in a recent interview.

Fan's between the ages of 20-40 are (on the whole) in a massively different economic position relative to fans of previous eras... Perhaps the continuously inflated ticket prices (or more specifically donation levels required to purchase them) could have something to do with it? Schools - for YEARS - have gone to that well to increase donation levels required and more and more often have made it very challenging for recent grads to gain access to season tickets... therefore they hand-crafted a generation who largely don't feel as attached to attending the games after they graduate. Now they are surprised that the field is barren when they were the ones who failed to water, fertilize, and plant them to begin with...

I don't think there has been a massive shift in "interest" in attending live sporting events, rather a willingness to part with the money required to attend those events as the costs continue to rise.

Frequently see job listings with $15/hr pay rates where desired education is college degree or even masters... College is more expensive than ever and kids are graduating with 6 figure debt... I'm really fortunate to not be in that boat, but holy shite the lack of awareness to try and blame it on people's attitude rather than their fiscally intelligent decision making is eyepopping.

That will be the Ags in a few years with Jimbo, except they paid a lot more for him than FSU.

They will still show out when Saban and Bama roll in

The difference is we have average about 75 M (Jimbo’s contract) more in revenue per year than FSU. I think we’ll be fine.

FSU will be good after Willie leaves. He has never been a good coach.

Some coaches are just better at smaller schools with lower expectations. Willie may not pan out at FSU but I believe that team will be significantly better than they were in his first season there.

Straws showed charts proving he didn't really improve USF recruiting at all in terms of ranking.

Lol at buying in to Straws' bullshite. This is the same guy who said McElwain was a great coach and Kirby would fail at UGA.

The chart was accurate. See USF average recruiting ranking two years before and two years since. It's nearly identical. While Straws is full of nonsense, he didnt actually make the chart lol.

If Franochio couldn't sink our program, Jimbo will never do it.

No surprise. They accused us of inflating attendance figures for years when in fact they were far worse. Their ONLY sellout is when we come to town (couldn't even sell out Clemson in 2016).

And their supposedly elite recruiter can't even out-recruit Mullen.

Yep, the revisionist history about how they supposedly never wanted him is amusing. Same thing with Herman.

I can feel their pain. Its going to be hard to generate much interest with the home game line up being: ULM, Louisville, NC State, Syracuse, Miami and Alabama State.

Granted our home schedule isn't exactly thrilling this year, particularly with Mizzou being sentenced to spend time in hell/Little Rock. But the big selling point for FSU this year is a Miami team that is bringing in a completely new coaching staff.

If Miami and FSU both have a few losses before they play, this season will be a disaster attendance wise for FSU. Miami has been a disaster for years.

Miami was undefeated in 2017 and FSU still didn't sell it out.

Problem is...the long term season ticket holders have a huge incentive to keep re-newing in order to retain 'favorable' seats AND parking passes ! Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't !

Yes otherwise you drop to the bottom of the list as far as seniority goes.

Normally I'd say "ACC Board" but I'll allow it.

FSU is fricked.

Their current financial quagmire is the result of decades of short-sighted and corrupt decision making.

LSU did try, but LSU isn’t nearly as desperate as A&M. LSU isn’t paying that ungodly sum to jimbo. That’s dumb.
And I never wanted him at LSU. Look at my post history. The guy took a consistently great FSU program and ran it off the cliff. Look at the game vs bama. Everyone said it was because of the quarterback getting hurt, nope.... that’s not it bud. He’s a joke.
