No shite....it has been very well known for over 50 years now. But it is Fifa..they have a ton of lawyers making sure shite looks clean. They make a ton of money, have to protect it.

Today maybe, but back when they were incentivized to get an SEC team into 1 of 2 spots in a BCS title game…now that was pinnacle corruption. Not just Alabama most years, but remember when Arkansas got called for pass interference 3 downs in a row to let Florida get into the red zone on the final drive and advance to the sec title game? Think this was back in 08 when Tebow was there.

AH, found it: LINK

It was two CONMEBOL officials. One from Brazil the other from Venezuela. Not FIFA as a whole.

I hope we appeal but I don’t have much hope

The officials screwed Senegal against Belgium.

We are not used to seeing New World Order level corruption.

Anyone downvoting this is either clueless or in denial. Here’s that link again: LINK

One of many examples over the years but has gotten better since the playoff expansion since multiple SEC teams can now get in and split that $$$.

The red card was ridiculous. A yellow card? OK, but that’s not an option for VAR so they should have just let it go. Instead, VAR had to be the center of attention and talked the ref into the red card.

As bad as that was, however, the officiating situation in the World Cup is much better with VAR than without. Officials still make some bad calls, but it isn’t because they simply didn’t see it, or just saw it wrong.

The one in Qutar made around 17 fricking Billion...that is beyond insane..17 Bill..

The last Super Bowl made no clue..the NFL keeps it hidden...the estimates are 300Mil to 1.3 Bill..what a fricking range .

Wimbelton made around 70.4 Mill

So you could probably combine ever sports titles all together and they would not make even half of what the last World Cup made.

Btw I am not a fan of soccer at all, but recognize it is the most popular competion in the World(The World Cup), easily.

With that much money involved, guarantee there is massive corruption. From paying officials hush money, to paying players and coaches the same, etc.

I watched about 30 minutes last night. Saw a lot of shirt pulling, guys getting knocked over, etc., all in plain sight but somehow the referees never saw any of it. All of them didn't see anything. It was like I was back in the late 60s/early 70s watching a tag team wrestling match. Referee arguing with someone outside the ring while foreign objects being used in the center of the mat. Those were the day.

It's bush league because Messi straight up did the same thing as Balogun and got no call, no card. And what's worse is now Belgium will have a man advantage the entire game.

quote:

Replays showed Messi stepping on Algeria defender Aissa Mandi’s calf and Achilles area from behind, with his studs showing and dragging down the back of his leg toward the ankle News18+1. The contact left Mandi on the ground in visible discomfort, and the Polish referee, Szymon Marciniak, allowed play to continue without issuing a card. Video Assistant Referee (VAR) officials also did not intervene.

VAR is supposed to judge the full speed video as it wasn't a touch issue, the split second of contact here was made into an eternity with slow motion.

They should set aside the suspension as an egregious mistake.
