Didn’t you hear? Kyler Murray got Oklahoma over the hump. They were losing 6 games a year before he got there

I could believe the five to six losses with that defense. The lucky thing for OU is that no other teams in the B12 play defense either.

Kyler has Hollywood and Lamb.

Two possible first round receivers and players defenses that are the worst of any P5.

Next excuse?

Doesn't help that the perception of Alabama is that they are a boring run first offense that just grinds teams away. Even though they basically ran the Briles Baylor offense, the perception is they are a run first pro style team. I still see promos for Auburn labeling them as a smoke and mirror, slight of hand offense and AU probably runs more HB dives right up the middle than anyone. I say this to say that stats matter and for some reason when people think of Bama they don't associate the relevant stats with perception.

"If he hadn't gotten injured on the first drive, I think he would've played much better than he did. That also doesnt change the fact that our receivers were dropping passes left and right either. "

He was injured before that first drive. In every game from the LSU game forward there was obvious direct actions taken at Tua's knees from almost every team he faced. There was blatant hits that should have been flagged. People can say they are legal or not, but it is ridiculous the effects these types of injuries have on a player and they do not go away. I know. I am 54 years old and facing bilateral knee replacements due to injuries I suffered when I was younger. Surgeries do not help for long, they just prolong the process.

He was injured the second half of the season, but he was also playing better after the last couple games.

MSU and UGA. Plus Jalens performance in that game. It was the system, not the player.

This gives Bama a Lot of motivation.

Where you upset when Ingram won?

If you say it was the system and not the player, talking about Tua, then that definitely applies to Murray as well.

No, I wasn't upset when Ingram won. I'm not upset that Murray won. He was deserving of it. I just don't like the double standards

There is no way the announcer would have gotten his name right.

He was punished for not having a “heisman moment.” Only he did have one, on 2nd and 26.

You can miss me with the bs about that being “last year.” It was 2018 and the 2017 heisman had already been awarded. If the playoffs (the most important part of college football) don’t count towards the award for the best college football player then wtf are we even doing?

Push the award back, or count the playoffs towards the next award should the player still be at the school

Either way the stats that Oklahoma sunshine pumped are terrible if you apply opponent context, or number of snaps given to them.

SB Nation had a pretty good breakdown of the vote. Murray got like 100 percent of the people who made up their minds at the last minute after the conference title games.

People remember the last thing they see. Tua also got more points than any runner-up ever.

It is what it is. Guy Bannister, David Ferrie and Clay Bertrand aren't on a grassy knoll somewhere trying to screw Bama.

This has nothing to do with who won the award but what surprised me are the number of voters nearly 2% that left Tua and Kyler completely off the ballot. I don’t care which you ranked first but how can you leave the two best players in CFB off the ballot? That opened my eyes to how disingenuous the entire process is. They need to shrink the number of voters down to Heisman winners and maybe coaches or something.

From August to October I was under the impression that the Heisman shouldn’t be awarded to someone who has great stats but never played a good defense. Funny how narratives change

1. The best player won the award...a true dual thread QB is more valuable than a great passing QB.

2. Hurts performance in the championship game also showed everyone that the surrounding cast made Tua look marginally better than he was.

3. Alabama still rolls without Tua...without Kyler, Oklahoma would be a 5 or 6 loss team this year.

And Murrays offensive line and the conference he played in didn't make him look any better?

Tua got greedy. Not sure if he was trying for that Heisman moment or what, but he was pushing the ball down the field while ignoring wide open dudes in the flat. A couple of easy throw check downs would have really changed his stat line in that game against UGA. He needs to learn that not every play needs to be a Wow! Throw. Part of his maturation process

You are right...it is probably a wash, but Murray's escapability was incredible when pressure got there.

Besides, with the aggies idiotically getting rid of a Heisman Trophy winner and then defending the decision is so damned funny that a thumb on the scale is fine with me.
