Also Texas A&M is ranked higher than LSU
Last years team should have lost 6 games and they lost:
entire OL & DL, only returning starter on either unit is the center
RB1/WR1/WR3/TE1
top 2 sack leaders and #2/#3 tackle leaders
CB2/FS1/Nickel1/Dime1
Their DC's scheme can't stop running QB's and Clemson/Florida/Ole Miss/Carolina/Vandy/A&M/Bama(if Russell plays)/Arkansas/Oklahoma all have running QB's. Hell even WKU's QB ran for 7 TD's last year
LSU fans have been completely delusional all offseason, there is nothing to like about that team except Nussmeier and a young receiving corps, which will held back by an inexperienced makeshift OL
They're going to be playing from behind all year and their QB is proven to be mistake prone when under pressure, regularly throwing off his backfoot, sailing passes and being overly aggressive trying to fit balls into tight windows.
They have better odds of failing to qualify for a bowl than they do winning the SEC or NC. Christ 60% of their secondary is made up of 3* transfers from Houston, Va Tech and NC State

That's for sure.
Ty Simpson will be the class of SEC quarterbacks this year.

Maybe but you guys got beat twice by a Georgia team that got beat by a team who lost to Vandy and Oklahoma (by 3 scores).

CB2/FS1/Nickel1/Dime1
LSU's lone returning starter is at guard, and they added 2 all conference transfers to fill the middle and the tackles are highly recruited sophomore (5 star) and Junior (4 star).
RB1 is, and was, Caden Durham. We also brought in the best RB in the country.
Aaron Anderson was WR1 in '24, and we brought in the best portal WR class in the country with established, veteran, play makers.
We replaced our sack leaders with good transfers. Greg Penn is not a loss.
Every person you mentioned in the secondary, outside of "CB2" (who was actually CB1) was replaced by someone significantly better.
We brought in 2 of the top safeties in the portal, the #1 CB in the country, and are moving Perkins to a hybrid role.
The only part of our team that will be worse than it was in '24 is offensive line.
QB - Nuss is being touted as a top 5 pick
RB - Durham showed he can be special, then we brought in the #1 RB in Berry
TE - Lose Taylor, brought in Sharp and Green, and have the most athletic TE in the country in TreyDez Green who has proven to be pretty unstoppable when on the field.
OL - Takes a step back at tackle, but improves on the interior
DE - Swinson is a loss, but Payton/Reliford/Butler/Pyburn will make up for his production
DT - Get significantly better here. Return 6th year player in Guillory who was a starter last year, 5 star in McKinley in 2nd year and by all accounts is poised to break out
LB - Keys/Weeks/Perkins/Freshman will be one of the better LB rooms in the country
CB - Stamps/Pickett/Cooley/Delane will be a very, very good room
S - Delane/Haulcey/Cooley/Toviano/Spears will be the best Safety room we've had in 6 years

And Texas still made the playoff, which is what this thread is about?

He was certainly impressive at the Manning Passing Academy last month.
Athlon Sports - Simpson Leads Manning Academy
quote:
Simpson was named the starter following spring practice and has done his waiting as a backup. Simpson recently attended the Manning Passing Academy, and QB Country Nashville Scout Thomas Morris shared with On3's Charlie Potter how the Alabama quarterback performed.
Morris said Simpson had one of the best arms at the event in terms of arm talent.
“I would say Ty had one of the top arms there, just strictly on arm talent,” Morris said. “I think Ty’s got first-round arm talent. He stands out in those types of situations, just because he’s so talented throwing the football, and I thought each day he got better and better and better. By the third day, I thought he had his best day of the whole entire camp and really, really impressed a lot of people.

Right before Sarkisian came to Texas i calculated my own importance scale for a successful team
1. QB
2.Head Coach
3. Overall defense
4. Running backs, particularly 2 good ones if you can get 2
I believe this for sure now that i saw Sarkisian put almost the same formula together right in front of my eyes shortly after and we reached back to back Semis and havnt slowed down

4. Alabama Crimson Tide
FTR I project Bama making the playoff this year or 9-3 and barely missing out but DK why the worldwide leader is acting like it’s a foregone conclusion. Just a brand thing like they always do.
quote:
8. Miami Hurricanes
Dark horse pick, not too bullish on them since their skill position corps aren’t highly-rated but their respective linemen groups are, Beck’s the QB, and Cristobal’s a top head coach
quote:
9. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Underrating Notre Dame and Freeman per usual, I’m actually bullish on Carr being QB1 and just tearing it up, have these analysts forgotten who their OC is??
quote:
10. Tennessee Volunteers
LOL they lost Sampson and Pearce from last year, what a travesty
quote:
13. LSU Tigers
Such a slap in the face, ESPN and Finebaum’s always been biased against LSU in their coverage and reporting, wouldn’t expect anything less. Like BK said, we’re keeping receipts, get ready to eat crow this season.

Don't kid yourself, UNLV is nowhere close to being better than the Gators.
UNLV would have to win 11 games to get in. The only challenging games are UCLA, Boise St, and @Colorado State. They will lose at least 2 if not all 3 of those.
Florida will need to win at least 9 to get in with games @ LSU, @ Miami, Texas, @ Texas A&M, Georgia, @ Ole Miss, and Tennessee. The Gators will go 8-4 vs that schedule.
If Mullen wants to spot the ball against this Gators team, he is crazy.

I am not the one ranked UNLV to have a better chance to make the playoffs than Florida. That doesn't mean UNLV is a better football team than Florida.
