Are you trying to make me break down Tua, Hurts, and Jones to see who is better right now?

Stricklin and the SEC gave Napier the toughest schedule in the nation every year, but the up-and-coming doesn't look as tough. Even with the tough schedule, you need to be over 500 at Florida. If the incoming coach can keep the offensive weapons, watch out.

One thing I do know is that A&M isn't going to run for 300 yards on the Gators this year. Lagway didn't look good on the road vs LSU and Miami, though. This should be close, but I see the Aggies pulling away late.
Stop acting like you have a tougher schedule than everyone else in the SEC.
Florida just played #3 LSU, #4 Miami, and #9 Texas, all of which came off a cupcake game. Now they're going on the road to #5 Texas A&M. Miami and Texas A&M are still undefeated.

Honestly, I think if they played Jones at QB with Lagway being injured, they beat USF and possibly LSU. If you can't practice, you shouldn't start.

If Lagway doesn't get that offense together in the bye week, Napier will lose the team by sticking with DJ.
So the Gators get a sack on 2 out of 10 pass attempts just from one guy? I'll take that.
Seriously, what would it take to pull Lanning from the Ducks? He has everything he should want and need. Just an offer from Florida would make him the highest-paid coach in football. I would cost UF 20 million for Napier and another 20 million to Oregon for starters, then you have to pay the coach. Lanning would need 100 million plus for 8 years and Nike-type money to build the roster.

Call me crazy, but I would go with a coach who has a losing record as both a college and NFL coach. Give me Kliff Kingsbury! He has coached Heisman winners, and the Gators are in desperate need of a fun offense. His Texas ties could also keep Lagway from jumping ship. His current boss, Dan Quinn, was at Florida and could give him the advice needed to navigate the toxic Florida fan base and boosters. Seriously, why is any other candidate a better choice?

I actually would have been perfect to keep Mullen at OC when the Gators were paying him millions, when he was a terrible broadcaster. Florida wouldn't have the roster they have with Danny Boy. Napier has a great process, but needs a top-notch OC to win.
Kansas State and Boise State both started with an L. The only locks on his bracket are his top 4 and possibly ND. I can see all of the others missing the playoffs.
re: Can the Gatiors handle Long Island?
Posted by URGatorB8 on 8/29/25 at 6:06 am to specchaser
Not like they had a top 5 school scheduled, but the Gators originally had FAMU scheduled, and the SEC put Texas A&M in that slot. Florida had to find an opponent at that time, so they slotted Long Island. UF also has USF, @Miami, and FSU out of conference (what's LSU's record vs. FSU?). The Gators also scheduled all Power 4 teams last year and have the second-toughest schedule this year, even with Long Island.
I think this is the 1st year I can remember that LSU doesn't have an HBCU scheduled. Why can the Tigers play every other Louisiana school except Tulane, the only other Louisiana school with a pulse?

You did a great job of maintaining the big rivalries and hitting the geographic footprint.
As a Gators fan, I love that you added Auburn to our annual 3. I'm showing my age but it was always one of my favorites every year. It will be interesting to see which annual non-conference teams are selected by Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, and A&M.
LSU is scared of Tulane, so I don't see that happening. They would also have to add another Power 4 team. I would think they would select Houston because of their large alumni base there. Ole Miss would also need to find another Power 4.

re: What's a company or product that really turned itself around by "rebranding"?

I would point to Old Spice and Dunkin' as rebrand success stories.
For decades, Old Spice was seen as a brand for older men. In 2010, they launched "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like" campaign. This viral, humorous advertising series completely repositioned the brand, making it relevant and cool to a younger, millennial audience. The rebrand led to a massive increase in sales and brand awareness, successfully transitioning a classic product into a modern must-have.
In 2018, Dunkin' Donuts dropped the "Donuts" from its name. While it was a bold move that received mixed reactions at first, it was a strategic decision to emphasize that the company was a coffee and beverage company, not just a donut shop. The rebrand, which kept the familiar pink and orange colors, reinforced the company's "America Runs on Dunkin'" tagline and highlighted the fact that a majority of its sales came from coffee and other drinks.

Baylor could win the Big XII this year.
Wild card teams have won the Super Bowl and World Series.

Honestly, I would be happy with a split with those two early road games. If the Gators can go 3-1 in the 1st 3rd of the schedule, 2-2 against the big boys in the middle of the schedule, and finish strong with 4-0 at the end, that puts Florida at 9-3 in the middle of the playoff talk.

UF always had one before the Orange and Blue spring game. We would always find some good stuff. They would always put closeout stuff from the bookstore out.

I was half tempted to drop Tom Petty just because I know how much it torks LSU fans that the best to come out of Baton Rouge is Better Than Ezra.
I'm going to go a little under the radar for my selection with Molly Hatchet. Flertin with Disaster is their big hit, but they had some other really good songs and their album covers were pretty epic.
They would play the UF campus at least once a year when I was there, and they would sign off the radio broadcast from the games with Gator Country.

Don't kid yourself, UNLV is nowhere close to being better than the Gators.
UNLV would have to win 11 games to get in. The only challenging games are UCLA, Boise St, and @Colorado State. They will lose at least 2 if not all 3 of those.
Florida will need to win at least 9 to get in with games @ LSU, @ Miami, Texas, @ Texas A&M, Georgia, @ Ole Miss, and Tennessee. The Gators will go 8-4 vs that schedule.
If Mullen wants to spot the ball against this Gators team, he is crazy.
