Alabama isn’t some fountain of basketball talent is the point, we seem to be doing just fine recruiting.

Yea that was a pretty silly sentence. I think we'll sign a lot of the best in state kids with Oats, but the past has seen the elite instate kids sign all over. Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Kentucky, North Carolina, Indiana, Mississippi State, Purdue, etc.
It's not football. You can't count on an elite kid in state every year. Some years there are only 1-2 hi major kids in the state, led alone stars.
Auburn recruits in Atlanta because they are every bit as big a brand there as Georgia is in basketball. And Alabama recruits in Canada, California, Florida, etc.

The one thing I miss about the Big XII is our basketball program has went to shite since joining the SEC.
Lack of traditional rivalries and some of the worst hires at HC does that.
We have really good facilities for basketball so it sucks. Our football team seems to have benefitted though. If we had some of the teams we have put out on the field the since joining the SEC in the Big XII we would be pretty damn successful right now.

I read this when it came out a month ago and thought the Auburn portion was genuinely terrible. The rest of the blurb basically said we are cheating and yeah, didn’t even mention the hotbed of recruiting we have signed three straight first round picks from. Objectively terrible.

Yeah, this is a joke. Congrats. Too bad history doesn't back it up though. LSU is a better program than Tennessee and bama.

It went to shite because you guys have hired nothing but horrible coaches. Frank Haith, Kermit Anderson, and Counzo Martin would kill any program.

I agree with this but will also say that I think Bama is well positioned to move up with Oates running the program.

Whats with the TN love?
They legit have one Elite 8 appearance in program history. That is it. Nothing else besides one in 2010.
Kentucky, Arkansas/Florida then a good drop off
I'm tempted to put Tennessee ahead of Florida. Tennessee has had a lot of great players throughout the years, while Florida had a few good years under Donovan. I know he accomplished a lot, but it was such a short period in the grand scheme of things.

It always fluctuates...I'd say in terms of fan support Arkansas and Tennessee are up there especially when things are good. Florida fans half assed supported their teams even in their good days with Billy. That arena was never full unless we were in town.

They are fickle. They have got a lot of fair-weather fans.

Tennessee- "Crazy, maybe delusional..."
I can dig it.

This just makes me sad knowing that State can have a good team and a good program. The lack of investment in the program has really caught up to them.
State is historically better program than Ole Miss and some other SEC programs, but college basketball is a slowly dying sport and cheating goes on completely unchecked. Why should MSU invest in it? Give me a good reason, too.

I mean, I'm not casting stones here, but are you trying to say that Auburn hasn't cheated in basketball?
