Easily one of the best DCs in the country. We are trying to hold on to him until a large program comes to make him an HC.

I mean, it's pretty easy to see that Elko is a HUGE upgrade from what we've had in the past. I expect our defense to be top 10 again this year, especially returning everyone. You can't argue with that side of the balls results.

He definitely has been an upgrade but I think a bigger difference has been not having a flag football offense leave the D out on the field for 40 minutes a game.

True, a flag football offense does no DC any favors…. But we still like Elko a lot.

Maybe, but he's never had a defense outside the top 50 in his entire tenure as a DC in the P5. From wake forest, to notre dame, to A&M.

Elko has been a vast improvement, but let’s not pretend he’s not downstream of a seismic improvement in defensive recruiting, particularly on the DL.
A&M didn’t field a legit defense until Jimbo got to town.
