Bo ran the fastest 40 time in the history of the combine. Bo was a better athlete. Bo was a better RB. Herschel was great. Bo was greater.

WRONG....and every analyst that makes a TOP 10 list of greatest college RB's of all time has Mr. Walker at the TOP!!!!!

Bo Jackson was a fine RB but he was no Walker. Try harder

Those rankings, the heisman voters, the national title, the undefeated SEC record for Herschel, it's all biased against Bo and Auburn. Just ask them

WRONG.

Many sources report a 4.12 forty yard dash time for Bo Jackson and if you watched him

Deion Sanders has the closest thing of the three as a verifiable 40 yard dash time. Sanders ran a 4.21 forty yard dash at the 1989 NFL combine and k

I guarantee probably 3/4 of the people in this thread saw neither play in college and have no idea what they are talking about.

I too did not see either play so I will refine from making a JA out of myself like the others.

I will say it's pretty useless to use stats like "obviously Herschel, he has more yards" blah, blah, blah. Of course a running back who averages like 30 carries a game is going to get more yards than one who averages about 18. Bo has a far superior YPC and TD per touch.

On paper it looks to me like Bo was probably a better RB but Herschel's durability made him more valuable to his team.

Yeah, this is always a great question ....

To determine who lets their heart trump their mind.

Bo was a GREAT college running back.

Herschel was the greatest college running back of all time.

And Bo should just be thankful Herschel never took up baseball or he would've topped him in that as well.

And if Bo don't like it, he can speak to Herschel about it personally. He can probably find HW kicking a workout bag (or Matt Leinert) at the Heisman House.

Mike Davis averages 6.4 a carry which is comparable to Bo Jackson. Stats don't always tell the entire story. Walker literally carried us to a title.

So essentially Mike Davis = Bo Jackson by AU logic.

I saw them both play, with my own eyes.

People always want to compare players to other players. You will never find two athletes cut more alike than Herschel and Bo. Both had actual "world class" speed. Both could run around you, run by you, or run over you. Both could dominate a game. UGA just had Herschel where Auburn had more than just Bo at RB. That is the only reason Bo didn't have the career yards that Herschel had. Any school would kill to have either one of those guys.

Herschel was the focus of an I-formation offense and the sole offensive threat. Bo was in a more option oriented offense. Slight edge to Hushel (as Vince Dooley called him)

No they don't but over a 3 and 4 year career they are a pretty good barometer of things.

How old are you? Do you not remember the great Buck Belue?

This. Lache Seastrunk is averaging like 9 YPC. GOAT

YPC has a lot to do with there being other threats on the field. Just having the YPC is not that good of an argument

Herschel's team lacked greatly in talent and everyone knew he was getting the ball yet it didn't matter. He averaged 159 ypg for his career.
Of course this ignores the fact that the 1983 UGa team, sans Herschel, still went 11-1 and finished ranked #4 in the nation. Just like in 1982 with Herschel.

Oh, and their RB-by-committee of Keith Montgomery, Barry Young, David McCluskey and Tron Jackson rushed for 1761 yards and 19 TDs, compared to Herschel's 1982 Heisman season numbers of 1752 yards and 16 TDs.
