Walker by a mile. It's not even close really. UGA just lined up and everyone knew it was coming. Everyone knew UGA was running the football and Walker would drag people 4 or 5 yards a pop. It was nearly unstoppable. Walker literally carried UGA on his back for 3 seasons and was the first player really to bring out the crazy recruiting. People knew in high school that he was going to be one of the great RB's of all time and UGA getting him was a huge deal.

I'll tell you this...right now, at this very moment, Walker would beat the ever living shite out of Bo in a fight. This I do know bitches

And there's that whole baseball thing that Bo had going. So to be able to perform at a high level in two sports seems to give Bo the edge beyond just being "a good athlete"
Herschel would beat the frick out of Bo.

You can realistically scale Bo's numbers up given the # of carries he and HW both had.
You're right. Both were amazing.

Herschel did it all alone, whereas Bo always had a Fullwood or someone else to keep the D honest. Not to mention Bo had durability issues. Disappeared in some big games.

YPC for Walker is the most impressive part considering some games they ran him 40 times or more and the other team just lost will. Walker imposed his will on the SEC for 3 seasons and literally it was UGA's only offense. This makes me question peoples sanity considering some still consider him the greatest college player of all time. GTFO with that question. Pure disrespect

So did auburn, we passed about the same as UGA, less than 100 a year

Bo was great, particularly in tecmo bowl...
Walker was better the better RB.
Walker was also a pretty good track athlete. I think he was an alternate in the Olympics.

Exactly. During the 80's I can assure you former players and the media had zero debate as to who was the better running back.
Again, the Heisman voting backs this up. Herschel finished 3rd, 2nd and 1st in the Heisman. Bo finished in the top 10 in the Heisman only once in his career (winning by the what was the then the smallest margin of victory the award had ever seen).
There is zero debate on who was the superior running back.

Bo was amazing, and I have no problem saying he was a better athlete. But the numbers aren't comparable, Herschel was the superior running back.
Bo:
650 carries for 4303 yards & 43 TDs (6.6 YPC, 1 TD per 15.1 carries)
26 receptions for 272 yards & 2 TDs (10.5 YPR, 1 TD per 13 receptions)
Herschel:
994 carries for 5259 yards & 49 TDs (5.3 YPC, 1 TD per 20.3 carries)
26 receptions for 243 yards & 3 TDs (9.3 YPR, 1 TD per 8.7 receptions)
In the 3 years Herschel played at UGA, his carries vs the next 3 players on the teams carries were:
1980:274-95-56-49
1981:385-76-66-52
1982:335-85-69-58
In the 4 years Bo played at AU, his carries vs the next 3 players on the teams carries were:
1982:127-117-113-90
1983:158-124-115-108
1984:87-117-94-86 (Bo was injured this year)
1985:278-92-81-54
Bo only got an overwhelming majority of carries in one year at Auburn, Herschel got more carries than all 3 of the next 3 on his team combined all 3 years at UGA.
Was Herschel more productive in pure yardage and TDs? yes, without a doubt.
Does running the ball more often and having 20% fewer yards per carry make someone clearly a "superior running back"? Not so sure about that.
All that being said, 1 thing is clear, both of those guys were fricking awesome!

Yes, laugh at data. Magical thinking explains a lot about your schools academic reputation.

Walker was the best player in college football for 3 years. He should have won the Heisman in 1980, 1981, and 1982. The only reason he did not was the bias against a freshman or sophmore being somehow underserving. Walker was a beast.

It's also clear that Herschel shits all over this "Bo" fella
Honestly never even heard of the guy

your posting is making me question if you went to UGA and if you did, their supposed high standards

As I posted on the first page. The Better choice is Jasper Sanks. Why are we even still debating this?
