And if so, how much would it cost a team to break it?

Prior to OU and UTx, the cost to enter the SEC was 50 dollars US and there was no exit fee. If you are strong enough as a unit, no need for a GoR as a gentleman's word was his bond.

Didn't the SEC give A&M its gentleman word that the SEC would add no more teams from Texas?

So I'm guessing the SEC does not have a GOR or no one knows its terms.

Sadly, more truth in this simple statement

Old schools about being strong internally to fend off all outside attacks

New school seems to be all about money

The lessons learned by the SEC in the 1930's seem to not be at the forefront like they used to.

I am old and retired, not sure what is happening internally these days but greed across college sports seems to be taking center stage. It happened a century ago and Super Conferences were broken up and NCAA was formed to keep sports amateur so maybe in the near future it will happen again and we will reset again.

OK, I admit I laughed and up voted you but I will fight the B1G to the death to keep my new gay triggered brothers in MO.

Why would the SEC need that?

They have:

warm weather
beautiful women
college football (#1)
and the top tv contract with ESPiN

As far as I know, we've never had 1 because nobody wants/wanted to leave.

I do not think the SEC has or ever had one.

Other conferences are scared that their members will leave so I think all the other P5 conferences have it.

Why leave the SEC? There is no better conference on the field

The SEC does not have a grant of rights. Any team can leave whenever they like.
