WOW!

LSU went 15-0? That's incredible

Do you happen to know how many times Alabama has gone 15-0?

It took the best team in LSU history to get a 5 point win over the worst Alabama team, riddled with injuries in almost a decade.

LSU didn't come up to Alabama's level, Alabama played down to LSUs.

This LSU team would have been destroyed by past Alabama teams, which means sorry - you aren't the greatest team of all time.

Hell of a season though, no doubt. Congrats on that, and it's a shame a national championship isn't enough for LSU fans who can't stay in their lane.

You seemed pretty confident in that iNjuRy RiDdLeD team before the game...

Hard to compare teams from different eras but 2019 LSU has a legit claim as best ever. Reasonable people can disagree.

Yeah and LSU got lucky.

Grats.

Still not the greatest team of all time or even close really. Not my fault winning that game and a national championship isn't enough for you.

Hmmm interesting. I seem to recall last year's Bama team being touted as the greatest ever, and then they got curb stomped by Clemson. Seeing as 2019 LSU beat the dog shite out of Clemson, I'm gonna go ahead and say you're full of shite

Yeah, nobody says that after Alabama lost.

Dumbass.

I mean I think you can certainly make the argument.

LSU's 2019 resume looks stronger by virtue of the newer system we are in today..

*We now play 12 regular season games, but back through 2001, it was just 11.

*2001 Miami and 1995 Nebraska were in an era before their conferences had Championship Games.

*The playoff adds an extra semifinal game that was not played back in the day.

All of these changes allowed LSU to play 3 extra games against highly ranked teams that those other teams just didn't have the opportunity to play.

That doesn't necessarily mean that 2019 LSU was better or more dominant than 1995 Nebraska or 2001 Miami. I think 2019 LSU certainly played the toughest slate of games of any prior National Champion. They were the most tested, for sure. But that doesn't mean they were necessarily "better"... those other teams just didn't have as much opportunity to prove themselves because of the system they played in back in the day.

----

I mean LSU's 2019 resume isn't all that different than Auburn's 2010 resume.

2019 LSU ultimately beat the #2, #4, #6, #7, #8, #14, and #25 teams in the Final AP Top 25 (7 teams)

2010 Auburn ultimately beat the #3, #8, #10, #12, #15, #22, and #22 teams in the Final AP Top 25 (also 7 teams)

2019 LSU was 15-0... 2010 Auburn was 14-0. But that also means Auburn played just as many Top 25 teams despite one fewer game... a higher concentration of tough opponents.

Both 2010 Auburn and 2019 LSU won the SEC and National Titles. Both produced a Heisman Trophy winning QB. Both had an OC win the Broyles Award, etc.

I mean the resumes of 2019 LSU and 2010 Auburn are actually pretty close. With that said, I don't think anyone puts that 2010 Auburn team as one of the greatest to ever play the game, but if you are going to go off of just resume, then 2010 Auburn is more decorated and proven than both 1995 Nebraska and 2001 Miami.

So the point is, just because a team has a strong resume doesn't mean its the best ever. It's not only about the resume.

Of course it is and it's not even close. As much as this fact drives this board completely bat shite crazy it's certainly true.

The key to this imo is not all of the broken records and winning just about every award. It's beating 7 top 10 teams in one season and I don't care where they ended up. At the time LSU played them they were top 10.

do you not see a glaring difference between these two resumes...or are you intentionally dismissing it?

No. I don't see a glaring difference between the two resumes... that's my entire point.

Based solely on resume, 2010 Auburn is very close to 2019 LSU in terms of the type schedule played.

I'm not saying 2010 Auburn was as good, but I'm showing that its not always all about resume. 2010 Auburn clearly has a better overall resume of accomplishments compared to 1995 Nebraska or 2001 Miami.... but I think those latter teams were much better overall.

The greatest team of all time implies a complete team. LSU was the 9th ranked defense in their own weak conference this year, so of course not

Yea. LSU was a complete team once the defense got healthy. Last four game stats by opposing qbs against LSU defense:

Combined passing stats of the last four QBs, Mond, Fromm, Hurts and Lawrence.

63 of 140 for a completion % of 45%
768 total yards for an average of 192 yards per game
1 passing TD for an average of .25 per game
6 Ints averaging 1.25 per game.

Yeah. I know it! It's damned near as funny as counting UGA as a top 25 win!
