Bo Jackson is very overrated as a football player

Catchy first name and playing baseball helped

You're just saying that because Bo Jackson was soft and avoided half the NFL season by playing baseball

As an Auburn fan, I have no problem hearing this argument. Henry is an all timer and putting together a hall of fame worthy career.

Bo’s legacy will always be built on his “Paul Bunyan” persona. As mentioned, if you want to truly overtake Bo, you’ve got to have top talent at multiple sports and have highlight reels in both sports. Gotta have track records and be a celebrity off the field as well.

frick Auburn with a fist-sized treble hook.

But Bo Jackson is one of the all-time greats.

Derrick Henry benefits from a bunch of soft defenses.

Since Bo's career was cut short, you can't compare NFL careers fairly. I think Bo was faster and Henry has a better stiff arm. Both run/ran with power. Bo's baseball and celebrity status are not relevent for this topic. But since Bo did suffer a career ending injury too soon, this whole thread is moot anyway.

What do you think the rules regarding hits are compared to when Bo played?

I have to agree with you on this one Tusky. Back in Bo's day, not only were you allowed to lead with your head but encourged to do so and aim for the arm carrying the ball. The rules have certainly changed in favor for the ball carrier over the last 40 years.

Actually both of you fanbases are wrong. Herschel played in Alabama when UGA was at Auburn, so the best RB to ever play in the State of Alabama was Herschel

Jeez man, he's not playing Ohio State every weekend.

That'd be playing some soft defenses.

Henry deserved the heisman. Even though his o line was better, as was his whole team, the guy is such an athletic freak.

Also, Bo said the NFL for him was a "hobby." Remember, he didn't even go to their off-season camp because he was playing baseball. He just showed up for the NFL and played for half a season and still dominated.

That's what people always ignore. He didn't even start playing until mid/late October.

Bo avg. 5.4 ypc.

Henry is averaging 4.9 ypc

Here is an interesting article on his stats.........

The stats don't lie.

That has nothing to do with the RB position.

I didn’t read any of that. What I do know is that Bo overdid it and broke a hip.

If you want to know how good Bo was, just ask Bo. He’ll be happy to tell you.
